Young Opens Up About His Decision to Depart from WWE and Rejoin IMPACT Wrestling: Reflections on Personal, Professional, and Moral Implications
In a recent interview, pro wrestling stalwart Eric Young discussed his transition from WWE back to IMPACT Wrestling. Young’s departure from WWE was based on various personal, professional, and moral reasons. He stated that the situation in WWE had transformed into something that he had not initially signed up for. Despite WWE being a dream job with a great contract, Young felt a moral disconnect with the organization.
His relationship with IMPACT’s parent company Anthem Sports remained intact even while he was under contract with WWE. Young has been a regular face on the Game Plus Network for the past three years. This existing connection with Anthem Sports played a significant role in his decision to return to IMPACT Wrestling.
Young doesn’t regret leaving IMPACT for WWE in 2022, as he considers himself a very experiential person. He appreciates the experiences he’s had and views them as invaluable. Scott D’Amore, the Executive Vice President of IMPACT Wrestling, even said Young would have been a fool not to make the move given the business aspects of the situation.
However, Young admitted that a part of him did not want to leave IMPACT. He felt a unique connection with the company and believed that they were on the cusp of something special. Despite this, he doesn’t harbor any resentment over his decision to leave and believes in fate, implying his return to IMPACT was meant to happen.
Though wrestling remains Young’s first love, he’s aware that he can’t do it forever. Consequently, he has numerous other interests outside wrestling and continues to work on various projects. Young’s unwavering passion for wrestling, coupled with his cinematic interest, makes the wrestling arena the perfect creative medium for him. Despite the twists and turns of his career, Young is excited for what the future holds.
