LSG IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants Strengths, Weakness, Schedule and Full Squad of IPL 2023
LSG IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants is the new franchise that made its debut in the 15th season of the IPL in 2022. They were able to reach the playoffs but lost in the playoff against Royal Challengers Banglore side by five wickets. This year they will have their own home stadium (Ekana Stadium).
They recently launched a new jersey for their team, which is rated the worst jersey in the history of IPL. That is something really not good for the side.
The head coach Gautam Gambhir is one of the most brutal truth speaking coaches who does not use sweet words when his team loses. He hates losing and that’s why he can be heartbreaking for the players who are not very confident in themselves and their talent. He is someone who knows how to perform in the most important matches like he did in the T20 world cup of 2007 and the ODI world cup of 211. He was the unsung hero of both matches where he batted when the tough situation arose and made his team win the world cup.
Lucknow Super Giants signed Ten players in IPL Auction in December 2022
- Nicholas Pooran was the most expensive buy for the Lucknow Super Giants side, as he was brought in for 16 Crore, which is again huge money paid for him, but still, he did not show his real potential in IPL yet.
- Amit Mishra is one of the IPL legends who took 3 hat-tricks in IPL, which is the most by any player who played in IPL.
- Yash Thakur is another pick by the Lucknow Super Giants.
- The west indies medium pace bowler Romario Shepherd is also one of the picks by Lucknow Super Giants
- Yudhvir Charak, Prerak Mankad, and Swapnil Singh were the other domestic pick by them.
- The Afghani pace bowler Naveen-ul-Haq was picked by them to give more strength to the bowling unit.
- Daniel Sams was one of the steal deal for the LSG side, who brought him for just 75 Lakh.

LSG IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants Strengths:
All-Rounders Options
Lucknow Super Giants are one of the teams who rely on their All-Rounders more than they do on the batting and bowling. They have great All-Rounders on their side, like Marcus Stonis, who can bowl some medium-pace bowling and opens the bat for them if needed for power-hitting. Krunal Pandya is another All-Rounder who had been the core member of the Mumbai Indian team in the past, but then he was not picked in IPL Auction 2022. He was picked by Lucknow Super Giants but did not perform as he did for the Mumbai Indians in the past as he scored 183 runs and took 10 wickets which were below average but he is a great talent and can turn the game around by himself.
Deepak Hooda is in good form in his recent T20 matches and can be the main man for the Lucknow Super Giant team. He is a clean hitter of the ball and can bowl some overs for the side if needed in the spin-turning tracks.
Daniel Sams is one of the steals picks for them and can be handy with bat and bowl. He is a death-over specialty bowler who can take wickets in death overs with his slower ones and perfect yorkers.
Wicket-keepers team
Lucknow Super Giants have Three world-class wicketkeepers on their side. They have KL Rahul, who is one of the best-scoring batsmen in recent IPL seasons. He has scored more than 500 runs since the 2018 season, and last season, also he scored 616 runs with an average of 51. He played 109 IPL matches and scored 3889 runs with an average of 48, which is a serious average if he played more than 100 matches.
Quinton De Kock is one of the most explosive wicketkeeper batsmen in IPL and also in world cricket. He scored 2764 runs in his 92 IPL inngins with an average of 133. The new signing Nicholas Pooran who cost them 16 crores, is one hefty amount for a player who did not show any promising performance in IPL. He has an average of 26 which is not really great for a player who has been given so much money.
LSG IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants Weakness:
Doubts on the Indian Pace bowling attack
Last year the Lucknow Super Giants pace bowling unit was really great, as Mohsin Khan was one of the best uncapped Indian players in the IPL season 2022. He played 9 Matches in which he picked 14 wickets but the most impressive thing was his Economy which was just under 6 runs per over, which is superb in T20 from domestic bowlers.
Injury Concern
Lucknow Super Giants’ pace bowling is in doubt to be fit to fullest till the IPL 2023. Their 2022 gem Moshin Khan is under surveillance as he has been going through scans. It’s still a doubt if he will be fit for the IPL 2023 season. Mark Wood is someone who can’t play every IPL match because he can get injured quickly.
Amit Mishra’s age caught up to him and he can only play a few matches because he is not a fit candidate to play high-intensity matches.
How Deep Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) can go in the IPL 2023 Tournament Prediction:
Lucknow Super Giants can qualify for the playoff, but it will be hard for them to win the trophy this year as their pace bowling unit is not reliable as it was in the 2022 season. They are heavily dependent on All-Rounder units but it can backfire on them.
Gautam Gambhir was furious about their mindset last year. KL Rahul said in one of the interviews that he does not care about the batsmen’s strike rate, which is one of the most important parts of any batsman game in T20.
