FFT Introduces AI-Protection to Tackle Cyberbullying at Roland Garros Tournament

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) is taking a stand against cyberbullying by introducing an Artificial Intelligence-based protection tool in time for the upcoming Roland Garros tournament.

The AI system, called Bodyguard, will be used to monitor comments across social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter and TikTok and respond within 200 milliseconds. The FFT’s aim is to provide players with mental health support and protect them from online abuse.

“The mental well-being of our athletes is a priority,” said an FFT representative. “We are committed to creating a safe environment for all tennis players so that they can focus on their game without worrying about the risk of cyberbullying.”

The Bodyguard system uses natural language processing and machine learning to detect malicious comments in real-time. It can also identify potential threats and redirect them for further investigation by an FFT representative or professional body.

The FFT said that they will continue to look for ways to improve the safety of players online and that they are committed to providing a secure environment for everyone.

“We want our athletes to be able to play tennis at their best without any fear or worry,” said an FFT representative. “That is why we are taking proactive measures like this one and will continue to look for ways to ensure a safe environment for all.”

The Bodyguard system will be available at the Roland Garros tournament this May, providing an extra layer of protection to players and helping them focus on their game.
