Andy Murray withdraws from the French Open
Andy Murray pulled himself out of the French Open 2023 because he wanted to focus on the grass-court tournaments as he did not participate in the Italian Open and now will not feature in French Open.
British professional tennis player Andy Murray is one of the former ranked 1st players, but right now, he is ranked 41 in the current ranking ATP. He became an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2013 after winning Wimbledon Final against Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles since Fred Perry did the same thing 77 years ago.
Sir Andy Murray OBE has been out of professional action since Australian Open which happened in January, and he also played just one match with Roland Garros, which was in 2017, after losing to Stan Wawrinka in the round of 16 by 6-3, 6-0. After asking why he pulled out from the French Open in an interview, he said that he would like to play in perfect condition because he doesn’t know when he will be able to play again.
“I would like to play, just purely because I don’t know if I’ll get another opportunity to play again. Whilst I feel fit and healthy, I would like to give it a go.”
Andy Murray said in a interview
One of the reasons why Andy Murray did not want to participate in the French Open due to his struggles on the clay court, which was hard for him because Andy age is now 36, and it is not really easy for him to play with the same intensity which he used to.
The other reason why Andy Murray pulled out from the French Open was because of his early exit in the Italian Open in the round of 128. Fabio Fognin defeated Andy Murray by 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, and right now, Fabio is ranked 130.
Murray is likely to return to the Wimbledon competition because he already said it would be his last season and wants to play on a grass court, which is his strength.
