Indian Junior Women’s Hockey team won the Asia Cup for the first time after defeating Korea 2-1 in the final
Indian Junior Women’s Hockey team created history after winning their maiden Asia Cup title. The tournament was in Kakamigahara, Japan, and the final was in Japan.
India was undefeated in the tournament, and in the final, they showed their skill as Annu and Neelam scored the two goals to give India a way to grab their hands on the trophy. India secured a place in FIH Women’s Junior World Cup 2023, which is going to happen in Chile.
The Hockey India board also gave 2 Lakh rupees to every player as a reward and one lakh to all support staff. Dilip Tirkey, the president of Hockey India, was happy with the performance of the team and its amazing feat in the tournament.

The star of the event was Preeti, who grabbed the Player of the Tournament award. She was the captain of the Indian team who once told that she would not be able to play hockey when in training, a defender broke her ankle, and the doctor said that she would not be able to play hockey anymore, but she did not give up and made her dream come true. She said that it was her belief that made her come to this point and the teammate’s contribution.
