Real Madrid vs Man City: Vinicius Junior Skills out classed Haaland’s Hype
Real Madrid vs Man City draw match had many interesting moments, but the Erling Haaland hype was out-classed by the Vinicius Junior skills in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Semi-final.
The match started with some skill shown by both team players, but it was Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric who started the real play, which led to a goal when he gave a cheeky pass to Eduardo Camavinga, who gave a low pass to Vinicius, and then he scored an amazing goal from the edge of the penalty box on the top right corner which went past Ederson Moraes to broke the deadlock and give a lead to Real Madrid.
After half-time, Kevin De Bruyne scored a rocket goal at the bottom-right corner, which Iİlkay Gundoğan assisted. Both teams tried to take the lead in the match but failed to do, and the match ended on a 1-1 scoreline.
Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti got a yellow card from the referee Artur Soares Dias after the 90th minute of the game because he protested that Bernardo Silva failed to keep the ball in play, but Referee did not give it out, and that build-up led to a goal by the Kevin De Bruyne. After the match, it was cleared that the ball was out of play, but VAR does not have the right to turn that decision.
“It looked like [the ball] was out,” “And before that, there was a corner which [the referee] didn’t give. The referee wasn’t very attentive. He gave me a yellow card, and I said, ‘Give them on the pitch, not off it!’
It was out. It’s not me saying it; the technology does. It surprises me. They’re small details, but the referee wasn’t attentive. The players deserved more cards on the pitch, not [me] off the pitch.”
Ancelotti told Movistar news channel after the match
There was one bigger incident that happened in the stadium when Erling Haalnd’s father, Alfie Haaland, was escorted out of the Santiago Bernabeu after he threw peanuts toward Real Madrid fans who were arguing with him.
