Manchester United have unveiled their pre-season plans for 2023, which will see the Red Devils travel to the United States of America. The tour will begin with a one-off match against Spanish giants Real Madrid as part of Soccer Champions Tour and will include three other matches against Arsenal, Wrexham and Borussia Dortmund.

The announcement comes despite the recently-formed Premier League summer series, which will see Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Derby County and Stoke City compete without United’s involvement. Finance expert Kieran Maguire spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Manchester United’s plans for the summer. He said: “The money generated by these matches will provide a welcome boost to the club’s already impressive finances. The tour of the US is an excellent opportunity for them to make more contacts in America and potentially increase their commercial deals with sponsors.”

The Red Devils have had a strong start to the season, sitting at the top of the Premier League table and qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has further bolstered his squad with signings such as Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles.

The 2023 pre-season tour will be an opportunity for Solskjaer to experiment and further integrate his new signings into the team. It will also be a chance for players such as Mason Greenwood and Amad Diallo to impress, as they look to cement their roles in the first-team squad.

Manchester United’s pre-season plans have been met with enthusiasm by fans who are eager to see the club back in action. They are hopeful that the tour will help strengthen their squad and provide them with a strong platform to start the 2023/24 campaign.
