Manchester City Clinch Historic Third Consecutive Premier League Title and Set Sights on European Glory
Manchester City is celebrating their third consecutive Premier League title after a dominant season that saw them finish 18 points clear of second-placed Arsenal. The win means they have now won four English top-flight titles in the past eight years, becoming only the fourth club in history to achieve this feat.
Their achievements this season have been even more impressive considering they were without talismanic striker Sergio Aguero for the majority of it, yet still managed to score a whopping 102 goals in total.
The title win also marks Manchester City’s successful return to Europe’s top competition – the Champions League. They have qualified for next season’s group stage, along with Newcastle United and likely one other team (likely to be Manchester United, unless they lose their last two games and Liverpool win their last game).
In addition, the fifth-placed Premier League team will qualify for the Europa League group stage, alongside the FA Cup winners. This means that either Man City or Man United could potentially compete in three major European tournaments next season – the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup.
The title win has sparked celebrations amongst Man City’s fans, who have seen their team become one of the most successful clubs in England over the past decade. The club will be aiming to go all the way in Europe next season and prove themselves as a major power in world football.
