Liverpool Plotting to Sign Experienced Goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler From 2.Bundesliga Outfit Hannover.

Liverpool are reportedly looking to add experienced goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler from 2.Bundesliga outfit Hannover to their squad this summer.

Liverpool are set to make a move for Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler this summer, according to sources close to the club. The 34-year-old is expected to be available for a nominal fee despite recently having his contract extended by one year with the 2.Bundesliga outfit.

The Reds have already made contact with the player’s representatives, leading to speculation that they are looking to shake up their goalkeeping department behind Alisson Becker. Zieler began his career in 2006 when he joined Manchester United’s academy from FC Koln, but he sadly failed to make a single first-team appearance for them before returning to his native Germany in 2010.

The German goalkeeper has since enjoyed an impressive career with Hannover and had a short loan spell at Stoke City during the 2017/18 campaign. Zieler was also part of the squad which won the Europa League qualifying round with VfB Stuttgart in 2016/17, where he appeared in all three group games.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper and may view Zieler as an ideal candidate to compete with Alisson Becker. If signed, the 34-year-old will become the club’s fourth senior goalkeeper alongside Adrian, Caoimhin Kelleher and Andy Lonergan.

The Reds are reportedly looking to bolster their goalkeeping department in order to provide competition and cover for Alisson Becker. Zieler is seen as a reliable back-up option with the experience of playing within two different leagues, making him an attractive target for Liverpool this summer.
