Liverpool Eyeing Reinforcements Ahead of Transfer Window as Klopp Looks to Close the Gap on Rivals
Liverpool could be in for an action-packed summer after a disappointing season has left them without Champions League qualification. Jurgen Klopp’s side need to strengthen significantly if they are to close the gap on their rivals in the Premier League next year, with Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Chelsea all likely to be very active in the transfer window.
The Reds have already been linked with a number of players, both domestically and abroad, but it remains to be seen who will be signed up to the Anfield outfit. Reports suggest that Klopp is keen to add some defensive reinforcements, as well as some attacking flair, in an effort to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign.
One player who could be on Klopp’s radar is Andriy Yarmolenko, with the Ukrainian international having impressed since joining Borussia Dortmund last summer. The 28-year-old has scored nine goals this season and could provide the Reds with a much needed boost in attack.
Another name that has been linked to Liverpool is Julian Draxler, who has been a standout performer for Paris Saint-Germain this season. The German international could provide the much needed creative spark in midfield that the Reds have been lacking, and his experience of playing at the highest level could prove invaluable.
The Merseyside club also appear to be keen on signing Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire, who has been in impressive form for the Foxes this campaign. The 25-year-old is a commanding presence at the back and could provide a solid foundation for Liverpool’s defence moving forward.
It remains to be seen who will join Klopp’s team this summer, but it looks as though the Reds could be one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the transfer window. The addition of some quality players could make a huge difference for Liverpool next season, and they will be hoping to improve on their current league position.
