Karim Benzema’s move to the Saudi Arabia club Al-Ittihad gave Real Madrid a shock

Karim Benzema bid farewell with goal in his last match after he decided to leave Real Madrid to move Al-Ittihad

Karim Benzema left Real Madrid after an amazing 14-year goal-scoring career, and his record-breaking appearance for Real Madrid ended after he went to Al-Ittihad, a Saudi Arabia football club.

Real Madrid thought that Benzema would stay one more season in the club as they were preparing a deal to welcome another French superstar and one-time World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe who also said that he would leave Paris-Saint-Germain in the summer to move to Real Madrid.

Florentino Perez was shocked to hear the news from Benzema but then congratulated him on his next destination and wished him luck for the future because Benzema earned that respect in the club.

“Karim Benzema’s career at Real Madrid has been a shining example of conduct and professionalism, and he has represented the values of our club,”

“Karim Benzema has earned the right to decide his future.”

Real Madrid posted an offical statement

Real Madrid finished 2nd in the league after playing their last match on July 4th, 2023, against Athletic Club, and Benzema scored his farewell goal in the 72nd minute of the match. Not winning the league title and UEFA Champions League is considered a failed season for the La Liga giants, and because of this, they are going all out in the summer transfer to sign Kylian Mbappe, who will be their star player.

Jude Bellingham will be another player who has already done paperwork with Real Madrid before the transfer window. The guaranteed amount for him will be 87 million euros; if he performs better, 21 million euros will be add-ons.

Benzema will earn around 200 million euro at Al-Ittihad, which is not very much if compared to what he has been getting in Real Madrid for the last 5 years. Another Real Madrid player who played his last match was Marco Asensio, who is going to join the PSG side for the next four years after not getting a fixed playing time at Real Madrid.
