Indian Football Team Gets Ready for AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers with New Coach Appointment.
The Indian football team is set for a change in leadership as the All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced that the new coach will take charge of the team for the upcoming AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers. The senior team, meanwhile, will be overseen by national head coach Igor Stimac during the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzou, China.
The AIFF clarified that football is an U-23 event at the 2022 Asian Games and therefore Stimac will focus on the senior team’s preparation in the lead up to their Asian Cup campaign next year. The Indian U-23 squad has been grouped with Maldives, UAE and hosts China for the upcoming September 6-12 qualifying round games in Dalian, China.
The AIFF also clarified that the new coach of the U-23 team will be appointed soon and his duties will begin immediately. This shift in leadership is necessary to ensure that the Indian squad is fully prepared for their qualifiers next month and has enough time to acclimatize with their new coach.
The Indian U-23 team is in good form and has made a solid start to the qualifiers with their 3-0 victory against Pakistan earlier this year. The team is expected to face stiff competition from the other teams in their group, however, they are determined to make it through the qualifiers and put up a strong performance at the 2022 Asian Games.
It remains to be seen who the AIFF will appoint as the new coach of the Indian U-23 team and how he will help them prepare for their upcoming challenges. The Indian football team is looking forward to making an impact on the world stage and this shift in leadership could be just what they need to realize their goal.
