Will Christopher Nkunku be able to succeed in breaking the Chelsea striker curse?

Christopher Nkunku is a Chelsea F.C. player now and after a 53 million euros deal done on June 20th, 2023.

Christopher Nkunku officially joined Chelsea F.C. on a 6-year deal, which is surprising for one of the top talents in the world of football. Chelsea already signed Nkunku in January, but the transfer move was available after the current season ends, which Chelsea and RB Leipzig agreed on. He is a 25-year-old attacking player who can play in any position in the front, but his most preferred place is Central Attack Mid (CAM), and it is possible that he might play there because Mason Mount is on the verge of leaving Chelsea FC and they don’t have an amazing talent like him to play on that role.

In 2019, Nkunku joined the Paris Saint-Germain senior team after being promoted from the PSG B team, but soon he realized that he couldn’t become known because Kylian Mbappe and Neymar took the striker and winger roles winger role, so he decided to move, and in 2019/2020 season he went to RB Leipzig for around 11 million euros.

He played in Leipzig for 3 years, appearing in 172 matches and scoring 70 goals. He also gave 56 assists, making him one of the best young talents in the world right now. In season 2022/2023, he played only 25 matches and scored 16 goals, but just before the Qatar World Cup, he got a tear in his ankle ligament, which made him out of the World Cup.

He scored 35 goals in all competitions in the 2021/2022 season and was also named Bundesliga Player of the Season.

“Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest in the world,”

Nkunku said in a interview

It will be interesting to see where Mauricio Pochettino is going to step up because it will be a crucial decision for the Chelsea team as they have been finding their striker for a very long time, and after Deigo Costa, no other striker can fill the shoe in the striker area for Chelsea which has been their biggest issue since last 5-6 season.
