Benjamin Mendy signs for FC Lorient after he is cleared of rape and attempted rape charges

Benjamin Mendy is now cleared of all the rape charges, and now Mendy signs for the F.C. Lorient club after clearing the medical.

Mendy was accused by six women that he attempted to rape them or raped them. The first woman who accused him of attempting to rape said that the scene happened in October 2018, and the second woman accused him of rape which happened in October 2020, but both were set out to be false charges as the Chester Crown Court confirmed it. When he joined Manchester City from Monaco in 2017, he was the most expensive defender as City paid 52 million euros.

Mendy was part of the Man City squad when they won the Premier League in 2017/2018 and also won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. His last match was in August 2021 for Man City against Tottenham Hotspur.

Lorient finished 10th in the Ligue 1 in the 2022/2023 season, and they are happy to give Mendy a 2-year contract which they said in their statement to the French media.

“Benjamin Mendy, world champion 2018, quadruple winner of the Premier League under the colours of Manchester City and French champion of Ligue 1 with Monaco, comes to reinforce the Lorient workforce for this new season. Welcome Benjamin.”

Lorient club said to the French Media

Mendy is going to be part of the Lorient team in their pre-season matches, which are going to start on August 5, and the first league match they are going to play is against Paris Saint-Germain on August 13th, 2023.

It will be quite hard for Mendy to get back into his normal life because once a person is accused of such a high-level crime, some people will consider him even if he is not a criminal anymore.
