Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Childhood and Struggles:
Yashasvi Bhupendra Jaiswal was born on December 28, 2001, in Suriyawan, Uttar Pradesh, to Bhupendra Jaiswal (his father) and Kanchan Jaiswal (his mother). He is the fourth of six children born to his parents. From a very young age, he developed an interest in playing cricket and started idealizing Sachin Tendulkar. He had an underprivileged background, so cricket training is something he can’t afford, and there wasn’t much cricket played in his neighborhood, which pushed him to come to Dadar, Mumbai, to look for better training opportunities.
As he wanted to train in the city from where his ideal Sachin Tendulkar made his career, he came to Mumbai with his father and lived in his uncle’s home for some days, but later he had to move out due to a lack of space, and the Azad Maidan was very far from his place of rest. He started living near Azad Maidan, Kalba Devi, and got a place to stay at a dairy shop in return for work, but he failed to dedicate time to his work as he spent most of his time in training, due to which he had to lose his odd job.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Life-changing moment:
There’s a saying, “Where there is a will, there is a way,” and that is what Yashasvi’s unbroken will did, as his life-changing moment came when coach Jwala Singh saw him playing cricket against the Division A bowlers with ease. In an interview, his coach said that.
“I had gone to Azad Maidan in 2013, when I saw him practising, when he was 11-12 years-old, when he was facing A division bowlers. A friend of mine told me that he plays well, but was going back to his village in Uttar Pradesh,”
Jwala added, “He had lot of problems and there was no one to support him. I asked where does he stay and was told that he stays at the tent of the Muslim United (Club). I was shocked, and after he was done with batting, I spoke to him.
Coach Jwala Singh, after hearing the struggles he was facing and seeing the passion in his eyes to play cricket, offered him a place to stay at his residence and took good care of him. He started training him and provided everything he needed to improve his game. So, there were times when he didn’t have a proper place to stay and train, and when life took a U-turn, he got the best cricket coach who has groomed players like Prithvi Shaw.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s coach statements after his maiden IPL century:
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden IPL century came in match number 42 of the IPL 2023 and made him the fourth youngest batter to hit an IPL century. His coach, Jwala Singh, in an interview after his student’s maiden IPL century, gave some statements on the people who are reflecting more on the story of him (Yashasvi Jaiswal) selling Paani Puri and all and not looking at the hard work Jaiswal put in to improve his cricket game.
“I really don’t like the story (selling panipuri). He is playing cricket because of hard work.”
“Many sellers set up their stalls near the Azad Maidan. Sometimes when he would get free in the evenings, he used to help them a bit. He did not set up a stall himself. It is not that he sold panipuris and went on to play for India.”
He said, “Since I had a stable life in Mumbai, I treated him like my own son. After 2013, there has been no such incident where he would have had to struggle. I got him his first bat contract worth Rs 40,000.”
