Virat Kohli’s emotional message for his fans after getting out of the playoffs.
Former Royal Challengers’ skipper and the Run Machine, Virat Kohli, has tweeted an emotional message for the supporters of RCB after getting knocked out of the IPL 2023 in the last match of their league stage at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Virat Kohli, despite playing a remarkable innings of 101 runs, didn’t land on the winning side as Shubhman Gill hit his second IPL ton in the match to defeat RCB by six wickets. The match broke the hearts of RCB fans as their team couldn’t qualify for the playoffs, losing the chance of winning their maiden IPL trophy.
Virat Kohli on his twitter handle posted an emotional tweet for RCB’s supporters for always supporting them through thick and thin and said:
A season which had it’s moments but unfortunately we fell short of the goal. Disappointed but we must hold our heads high. To our loyal supporters, grateful for backing us every step of the way.
Virat Kohli tweeted on his twitter account
Royal Challengers Bangalore were on 14 points and had to win their last league stage match against the Gujarat Titans to qualify for the playoffs. Mumbai Indians were 2 points ahead, leading with 16 as they won the match, which happened in the afternoon that day, but if RCB won the match, then RCB would have qualified because they had the edge of a positive net run rate, but unfortunately that didn’t happen as Gujarat Titans, who were already in the playoffs, won the match by 6 wickets and knocked out RCB from the playoff race.
Royal Challengers Bangalore hasn’t won a single IPL title since the inception of the IPL in 2008, though they have managed to qualify for the finals three times but failed to lift the trophy even once. It’s been 16 years now, and the trophy drought is still in RCB’s dugout.
