Virat Kohli now in elite list of Top 5 cricketers in International Cricket.
India’s former captain Virat Kohli has achieved a new milestone in his cricket journey as the right-handed batter now becomes the fifth batter in terms of runs scored in International cricket while batting in the second test against the West Indies. Virat Kohli surpassed the South African great Jacques Kallis, who in his international cricket career scored 25,534 runs in 519 matches. Virat achieved this feat in International cricket in his 500th International match. Team India’s innings was trembling as they lost four wickets in quick succession on Day 1. The openers did the required work, but once they got out, the batters afterwards fell to the West Indies bowling attack except Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, both of whom built a strong partnership and guided India to 288 runs for 4 wickets lost at the end of Day 1.
Virat Kohli has smashed 75 centuries and 132 half-centuries so far and will add more records to his name in the coming years. In the longest format of cricket, he has so far played 111 matches, scoring 8642 runs with 28 centuries and 30 fifties. His best score in Test cricket is 254 runs. In the ODI format, he played 274 matches, scoring 12,898 runs with 46 centuries and 65 fifties. In the T20 format, he is the only batter so far who has scored more than 4000 runs; he scored 37 fifties and one century, which was against Afghanistan, and it is also his highest score in the T20 format; he scored 122 runs.
India will be facing West Indies next in a three-match ODI series after the second test, and then the two teams will have five T20I matches against each other. India will be looking to dominate the West Indies in all formats to start their next big event, the Asia Cup 2023, with confidence.
