UAE vs West Indies 2nd ODI highlights: Brandon King and Johnson Charles played well.

UAE vs West Indies 2nd ODI highlights: Johnson Charles and Brandon King started the West Indies innings, and the start they provided to the West Indies built the platform for the batters afterwards to capitalize on that. Both batters from the first 10 overs started showing the power and class they have to take on any bowler. In 10 overs, the duo put 84 runs on the scoreboard, and soon Johnson Charles hit his fifty. On the other end, Brandon King scored his fifty. They were putting on a run show, and once they passed the 300-run mark, it looked easy, but in the 17th over, while trying to hit another maximum, Ali Naseer got Johnson and Charles Wicket. The first wicket of WI fell at 129 runs.

Now, Shamarh Brooks entered the crease, and on-crease batters started increasing the runs, but in the 22nd over of the inning, Brandon King, while trying to go over long, got caught near the boundary. Shamarh Brooks, after making some runs, also got out. Batters afterwards tried accelerating the run rate but failed to do so, and in quick intervals wickets were falling, though firepower from WI’s end didn’t stop.

In the death overs, Odean Smith’s smashing power helped the West Indies pass the 300-run mark. Odean Smith scored 37 runs for his team.

UAE vs West Indies 2nd ODI highlights: Post-Match Statements

Johnson Charles (Player of the match):

Getting the man of the match is always special and it means you have done something well for the team. Well, that is for the selectors. My job is to score runs and score as many as possible. It is natural, it was a part of our game plan (to be aggressive). Someone has to make the move and take it (the game) on and that is my role. The pitch was better than the last time we played. There was something for the bowlers and for batting also it was decent.

Vriitya Aravind (Losing Captain):

It is a crime to get out after getting a start. Hopefully will get a big one in the next game and contribute to the team’s success. His (Ali Naseer) batting has been unbelievable and that is a positive to carry forward. Very impressive for such a young guy to come in and score back to back fifties against a quality side like the West Indies. The bowling department has been doing well especially Zahoor towards the end. We have an important tournament coming up in Zimbabwe and we want to be well prepared.

Shai Hope (Losing Captain):

As you say, a win is a win. The batters at the top set it up for us. King does what he does best and Charles also batted well. He (Jordan) got just a bit of swing and that was enough to get us an early wicket, he bowled well and I am happy for him. Credit has to be given where it is due but we didn’t pick many wickets. There might be some changes but let’s see..
