“It is hard to bowl to him” Rashid Khan on Surya Kumar Yadav’s maiden IPL century
Match number 57 of the IPL 2023 was the match Surya Kumar Yadav was waiting for, as he hit his maiden IPL century while playing against the Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium, Maharashtra. Surya Kumar Yadav in his innings hit 11 fours and 6 sixes, and the way he played to score his maiden IPL century was absolutely a joy to watch for the cricket fans. Even the players of the Gujarat Titans, like Rashid Khan, praised Surya for his scintillating knock of 103 runs in just 49 balls. Surya Kumar Yadav played with the GT’s bowlers and unsettled the line and length, taking his team to a huge total of 218 runs.
Rashid Khan, during the innings break, had a brief conversation with the broadcaster and said some words on Surya Kumar Yadav’s innings.
“SKY was unbelievable. It is hard to bowl to him and some of the shots he played were unbelievable. That’s how he plays in this format, and that’s what he’s known for,”
While chasing the target of 219 runs, Gujarat Titans didn’t start well as their top order batters failed to give a strong start to the team. Not only the top order batters afterwards failed to impress; even Hardik Pandya got out by just making 4 runs. Apart from David Miller, most of the players didn’t play the game they were expected to, whereas Rashid Khan showed some valour and hit a fast knock of 79 runs for his team, but in vain as Gujarat Titans lost the match by 27 runs. Mumbai Indians got two more points after the game and are now on the third spot of the points table, whereas even after the loss, Gujarat Titans are still at the top of the table. Rashid Khan’s brave innings was praised by many cricketers post-match.
