Shreyas Iyer Injury: The Kolkata Knight Riders team got some bad news about their Captain Shreyas Iyer who picked up a back injury during the 4th Test Match of the Boarder-Gavaskar trophy. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Travis Head and Usman Khawaja gave a good start to the team to having fifty run opening partnership.

Usman Khawaja scored 180 runs in 422 balls ,and Cameron Green also scored 114 runs in 170 balls and helped his team to post a total of 480 runs in 1st innings. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill had a fifty-run partnership, but in the 20th over, Rohit Sharma gave a soft catch to Marnus Labuschagne, bowled by Matthew Kuhnemann. Gill was able to score a century ,and then the long-awaited test century came from Virat Kohli, who scored 186 runs. Axar Patel and Srikar Bharat also contributed to the team by posting a total of 571 ,but the bad news came out when Shreyas Iyer didn’t show up at number 4. On the 4th day, BCCI gave a statement about Shreyas Iyer’s injury news, “Shreyas Iyer will take no further part in this Test. A specialist opinion will be sought,” the match came to a rare draw result. India won the series by 2-1 and retained the Boarder Gavaskar trophy.

Shreyas Iyer came from an injury in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy ,but again, he had an issue with his back. He is one of the important batsmen for Team Indian Cricket for the upcoming 50-Over Worldcup in India, and BCCI doesn’t wanna take any risks with Shreyas Iyer ,so they told him to take a rest from the first phase of the Indian Premier League. This created a big concern for the Kolkata Knight Riders’ side as he was picked last year by Kolkata Knight Riders to lead the team.

Shreyas Iyer was also not picked for the ODI series against Australia which started on March 17th and in the past was not a part of a team in the ODI series against New Zealand because of his back injury. He did not have a great 4 innings he played against Australia in the 2nd and 3rd tests in which he only managed to score 42 runs ,which is below average.

Kolkata Knight Riders have to choose someone for the captaincy role and here are some players who can replace Shreyas Iyer as the Kolkata Knight Riders captain.
