S.Sreesanth revealed that Sanju Samson ignored the advice of Sunil Gavaskar.

Former Indian pacer S. Sreesanth has recently revealed something shocking about Sanju Samson, whose team, the Rajasthan Royals, ended the IPL 2023 season on a bad note. The former ace pacer of the Indian cricket team, while talking to Star Sports, said that the former legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar advised Sanju Samson to take his time on the pitch and assess the bowlers first, but Sanju played according to his mindset, which cost him a lot. Sreesanth said that he was disappointed with the reply Sanju gave to the legendary cricketer. His words while speaking on Star Sports were:

“The way Sanju got out in 2-3 matches straight, Gavaskar sir told him, ‘give yourself at least 10 balls. Read the wicket. We know you have a lot of talent, even if you have 0 runs in 12 balls, you can score 50 in 25’. When RR lost in one of their last matches in the league phase, Sanju said, ‘no, my style is to play like this only’. I couldn’t digest that”

Rajasthan Royals this season displayed poor performance, though they started strong and were once the toppers of the points table. RR won four of their first six matches, but later on they only managed to grab three victories in their last eight matches, eventually failing to qualify for the playoffs of the IPL 2023. Captain of the Rajasthan Royals’ team, Sanju Samson, also had a very disappointing season, as the right-handed batter only scored 362 runs in the 14 matches he played.

Sanju Samson, in the 15th edition of the IPL, was one of the most successful captains; he guided his team to the finals of the IPL 2022 but failed to claim another IPL title and lost against the Gujarat Titans. This IPL season, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel are the names in the Rajasthan Royals that shine, and the big names like Jos Buttler failed to impress.

S. Sreesanth also said that he played with Sanju Samson.

“I support Sanju because he played under my captaincy in U-14. In the past 4-5 years, when I see him as a cricketer, I’ve always told him to perform in first-class cricket, not just IPL. Produce consistent performances. Ishan Kishan, and Rishabh Pant – both were and still are ahead of him. Pant is not there, but he will make a comeback. I met him recently, he firmly believes he can come back within 6-to-8 months.
