RR vs GT Match Prediction: Rajasthan Royals will lock horns against the defending champion Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on May 5th, 2023. It is going to be a match between 1st and 2nd rank teams in the points table.
Rajasthan Royals will be under-confident after losing their last match against Mumbai Indians, which was under their control until the 19th over. In the 19th over, Jason Holder just gave Tim David 3 free throws to hit out of the ground, which he did easily and won the match by 6 wickets.
Yashasvi Jaiswal played one of the IPL’S best knocks of 124 runs in just 62 balls and single-handedly took Rajasthan Royals to 212 runs. 63 runs were scored by the six batters from the Rajasthan Royals side, which is the worst they could do because if any of them contributed a bit, then the total would be around 230 or more, but no one other than Jaiswal did.
Sanju Samson choosing Jason Holder for the last over was a blunder choice even when Jason Holder was expensive in his last three overs. Kulip Yadav bowled really well and had one over left in his quota. Sanju still went for Jason Holder, who has not had a great season. It resulted in them giving away their well-deserved 2 points.
Gujarat Titans Batters were not able to find the rhythm in the last game against the Delhi Capitals and lost the match by 5 runs because Ishant Sharma defended 12 runs in the last over.
It was a rare moment for all fans to see that Hardik Pandya could not finish the match even when he was on the crease. He has been one of the best finishers for the Indian Cricket Team for a long time after MS Dhoni retired. He told in his post Match presentation that he could not find the rhythm to get in his hitting zone.
Full marks to the bowlers and full ownership I couldn’t finish it. Wicket was good enough, it was wicket pressure. They bowled really well, 10 overs for 80 we would have taken. In the end, Rahul got us in the game, otherwise they were quite ahead. We lost this game because I couldn’t get my rhythm.
Hardik Pandya said in post match presentation.
Mohammed Shami bowled beautifully as he was able to get 4 wickets under 4 overs. He was unhappy with batsmen, which he said in the post-match interview because it was a small total to chase on a good wicket.
This wasn’t a score that was above par, there was not too much swing. I felt we should have chased this. The mistake was losing wickets at regular intervals, we needed partnerships and they came too late for us.
Mohammed Shami said in the post match presentation.
RR vs GT: Head-to-Head Record
Rajasthan Royals took their revenge for the last season’s IPL when they met once more in the IPL 2023 as Rajasthan Royals won by three wickets. It was Rajasthan Royal’s first win over Gujarat Titans. Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals played 4 matches in which Gujarat won it all, including the final of the Indian Premier League 2022.
RR vs GT: Pitch Report of Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
Matches Played | 48 |
Batting first won | 17 |
Batting second won | 31 |
Average 1st innings batting score | 159 |
Pace Bowlers Took | 327 Wickets |
Spin Bowlers Took | 150 Wickets |
The last match on the Sawai Mansingh pitch was between Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings, which was a high-scoring encounter. Jaiswal was the star performer of the match as he scored 77 runs in 43 balls which helped the team to post a total of 202 which was a high score total at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Except for Chahal, all the spinners took the wicket because the pitch offered turn and bounce, which helped them to take wickets.
Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur pitch has been tough for the batter and good for the bowlers as no team ever crossed the 200 run mark in all 47 IPL matches played here, which clearly shows that the pitch is slow and tacky, which will swing at first and after that will spin also.
The ex-Pakistani and Rajasthan Royals player Sohail Tanveer has a record of 6/14 in his four-over spell in IPL, which is a 2nd best bowling figure after the Gujarat Titans bowler Alzarri Joseph who has a record of 6/12 in 3.4 overs.
The average score here is 157 runs which is a low total in IPL, and batsmen have difficulty picking the right length for the bowlers. The ground dimension is also big if compared to other grounds, providing comfort to spin and pace bowlers.
Team Preview of Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals gave away their last match points to Mumbai Indians when it was an easy job for them to defend the 18 runs in the previous over, but then because Sanju Samson’s decision to give the final over to Jason Holder backfired on them, and Tim David able to hit freebies.
They had a good chance to climb the top spot on the table, which they blew up, but now they will be looking forward to winning against the defending champions in the reverse fixture of IPL 2023.
Jason Holder needs to give up his place for someone like Obed McCoy or KC Cariappa because they are in better form and can contribute more to the team. However, their next match will be at their ground that favors spinners more, so we might see Adam Zampa coming in with Trent Boult and Obed McCoy replacing Jason Holder, which will be a better choice against the Gujarat Titans.
Rajasthan Royals batters need to set up their game and score runs consistently, which only Yashasvi Jaiswal is doing. Jos Buttler also seemed to be struggling in his last 5 matches, scoring only 76 runs with a strike rate lower than 100, which is bad for any player; when it comes from Jos Buttler; then it is worst because he has been playing T20 matches with strike rate more than 150.
Samson needs to play a responsible inning because he is still throwing wickets by playing rash shots that he does not need. He is an experienced and talented player who should try to finish the match independently.
Yuzvendra Chahal did not have good games in the last few matches, but still, he will be a vital bowler in the match against Gujarat Titans. It will be a tough match for the Rajasthan Batters to face two-class spinners like Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad on the spin-friendly pitch.
Hetmyer will get his last chance to shine in the season against the Gujarat Titans because he performed really well in the last match against the same opposition and will be looking to give the same performance.
Death Bowling is a concern for the Rajasthan Royals as they don’t have a proper death bowler who can take wickets or give them dot ball. Gujarat Titans have good finishers who can hurt them well if the match goes into the last overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal once again will look to continue his form after scoring a century in his last match. He also scored a 77-run knock in the last encounter against the Gujarat Titans side. He is in good form and has positive intent, which he showed even when he took the award, but it was not a good match for the team as they lost their last match.
When I scored the century, I didn’t know that ball had gone to the boundary. So when that happened, I just thanked God for the opportunity, I always had this dream, wanted to work on the process and work hard. Results will follow. I keep myself mentally strong and work on my fitness and diet. Organised my life well outside of cricket. I enjoy playing the straight drive and cover drive, that gives me a lot of confidence. Thank you so much, everyone for the support!!
Yashasvi Jaiswal said in the post match presentation.
Team Preview of Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans are still at the top of the table after losing against Delhi Capital in a low-scoring encounter. They need to gather as a unit once again because the last match was a disappointment for them.
It was a rare loss for the Gujarat Titans against the bottom team in the points table Delhi Capitals, and maybe that was one of the factors which made them lose the match. They might take it easy and try to take the match too deep, which turns out to be out of control.
Hardik Pandya should have started to hit early because he took a lot of his time to try to hit some shots. However, he took most of the blame on himself in the post-match interview and told them that they would look in a positive way. Also, it was learning for them how to play in the end phase of the match.
Wriddiman Saha needs to score some runs, or else someone else will take his place because he scored only 151 runs in 9 matches which is not a good set of numbers when you are an opening batsman. Srikar Bharat might get a chance to come to the team in place of Saha.
In the last encounter against the Rajasthan Royals, side Mohammed Shami was able to take up 3 wickets and gave just 25 runs. In his last match against the Delhi Capitals side, Shami destroyed the Delhi top order by taking 4 wickets and giving just 11 runs in 4 overs.
Shami also won the Player of the Match award, but on Sawai Mansingh’s pitch, it might be hard for him to find the same number of wickets because the pitch will not be going to favor his bowling style. Still, Shami has his own skill to bowl down at the perfect line and length to trouble the batters.
It is going to be tough for them because right now, they are having some trouble with the middle order, but the same goes for the Rajasthan Royals side, who are struggling with the batting. In the last few matches, only Jaiswal is the one-man army for Rajasthan.
There is a big chance that Jayant Yadav will come in place of Joshua Little, and Matthew Wade can come in place of Saha, who is not performing well. Wade does deserve a chance now, and Gujarat Titans should keep their focus if they want to finish at the top of the table to qualify for the Qualifiers of IPL 2023.
They need to try some players before getting to the crucial stage of the IPL season because you never know when someone will be injured, and it’s always hard for new players to take the place of some settled player on the big stage and also try to perform.
