RR IPL 2023: The first IPL Champion in the history of IPL, Rajasthan Royal will look to perform just like they did in their previous year, in which they reached the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but lost to Hardik Pandya side Gujarat Titans by seven wickets. Rajasthan Royals brought Seven players in the IPL Auction 2023:
- Jason Holder was the most expensive buy for the Rajasthan Royal’s side. The West Indies All-Rounder will look to strengthen the team in an All-Round way.
- The Australia leg spinner Adam Zampa was the 2nd most expensive pick (1.50 Crore) for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL Auction 2022 to support the last year’s purple cap holder Yuzvendra Chahal.
- Donavon Ferreira was another pick for the Rajasthan Royal team for 50 Lakhs.
- Joe Root is being picked for 1.00 Crore to give stability to the Rajasthan Royal side.
- Abdul Basith and Akash Vashist were picked at their base price of 20 Lakhs to give depth to the All-Rounder department.
- KM Asif is one of the domestic bowlers who was a CSK player last year and is being picked by the side.

RR IPL 2023: Rajasthan Royals Strength:
Rajasthan Royals showed their team unity to reach the final of the IPL 2022. They have well settle side and in IPL 2022 Auction, they were able to fill the weak spots in the team. Orange cap and Purple Cap came to their side last year as Josh Buttler got Orange Cap for scoring the most runs and Yuzvendra Chahal got Purple cap for taking the most wickets in the tournament.
Buttler- Samson’s explosive batting
Rajasthan Royal batting lineup works around Josh Buttler and their captain Sanju Samson. Both players have the ability to hit any ball out of the ground. The last year Orange Cap holder Buttler scored 863 runs in 17 matches with a 57 average and a strike rate of 149. Sanju Samson scored 458 runs in 17 matches with an average of 28 which was decent, but he has explosive power.
Josh Buttler is in seasonal form this year and recently played in England vs. Bangladesh series. He scored 111 runs in 3 T20 matches against Bangladesh.
Joe Root Effect
Picking Joe Root in the IPL Auction 2022 raised some eyebrows among the opponent team but it was a great pick by the Rajasthan Royal team because last year they had no one to be the right man at 1st down and because of that, Ravichandran Ashwin had to come up at the 1st down which lowers their run rate in the matches. Joe Root is not an explosive batsman, but he can keep the scoreboard ticking and help Sanju Samson with decision-making.
Spin to Win
Rajasthan Royal picked Adam Zampa to their side to give more strength to the spin department and support last year’s purple cap holder Yuzvendra Chahal.
Yuzvendra Chahal will again be going to be crucial for the Rajasthan Royals team as last year when Royal Challenger Banglore didn’t pick him in the IPL Auction after giving so much to the RCB side, he felt bad but then he showed his worth for the Rajasthan Royal side.
Adam Zampa is one of the best leg spinners in the world of cricket and can be a game-changer for the Rajasthan Royals side on a spinning track. He has 269 wickets in 232 T20 matches and in IPL, he played 14 matches in which he took 21 wickets. He has the best figure of 6/19 in IPL. He is also going to meet Ashwin and together, they might be able to Mankad some batsmen who are in a hurry to run.
RR IPL 2023: Rajasthan Royals Weakness:
Rajasthan Royals has been a solid team with bat and ball but when it comes to All-Rounders, they failed to get a stable and consistent performer at the All-Rounder spot who can score some handy runs and take some wickets when they need an extra option for the bowler.
Pace Bowling is a Concern
Their star Indian Pace bowler Prashid Krishna was ruled out of IPL 2023 and will take a year to recover from his back fracture. It’s going to be very difficult for the Rajasthan Royal side ,but if their reserve pace bowlers KM Asif, Kuldeep Sen and Navdeep Saini are able to deliver, then the Rajasthan Royal side might feel better.
Sanju Samson Inconsistency
Sanju Samson is one of the most skilled Indian batsmen ,and every Indian cricket knows that, but the real reason why he is not a part of the Indian Cricket team is because of his inconsistency and throwing his wickets away.
He can’t be trusted with consistent performance, which is one of the major threats for the Rajasthan Royal side because if the captain is not performing well, how can he ask others to perform better in the team?

The last season’s runner-up Rajasthan Royals (RR), will look to perform again as they did last year, except in the finals. They are well balanced all-round side and will be one of the favorites to win the title if all the players contribute together as a unit like they did last year. The main concern for them is their consistency of performance as a unit.
