RCB IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore Strengths, Weakness, Schedule and Full Squad of IPL 2023
RCB IPL 2023: ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ (This year the cup is ours) will their slog going to be true this year, or will they break their loyal fan’s hearts once again? Last year they failed to qualify for the playoffs because of the low net run rate and also they lost the last match of the league.
Recently Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a tweet featuring AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle:
Virat Kohli and the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Faf du Plessis, will look to win the trophy for their fans. They reached three IPL Finals and lost all finals (in 2009, they lost to Deccan Chargers by 6 runs. In 2011, they lost to Chennai Super Kings by 58 runs and in 2016, they lost to Sunrises Hyderabad by 8 runs). It has been a very tough journey for the Royal Challengers Banglore as a team but now they have a settled core squad and in IPL Auction 2022, they brought seven players.
Royal Challenger Banglore brought Seven players in the IPL Auction 2023:
- Will Jacks is the most expensive pick for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL Auction 2023, but it’s very unfortunate that he picked up an injury and will not going to feature in IPL 2023.
- The England tall pace bowler Reece Topley is another overseas pick by the Royal Challengers Bangalore side for 1.9 Crore.
- Avinash Singh is one of the interesting picks for the Royal Challengers Bangalore side, and there was a bit bidding war for him in the IPL 2023 Auction, but in the end, Royal Challengers Bangalore brought him for 60.00 Lakhs.
- Royal Challengers Bangalore also brought Sonu Yadav (ALL-Rounder) and Himanshu Sharma (Bowler) for their base price of 20 Lakhs.
- Rajan Kumar was another pace bowler picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 70 Lakhs.

RCB IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore Strengths:
On paper, Royal Challengers Bangalore has been one of the best teams for a long time, but they are not able to show it on the field. They have performed decently over a few years but they should play on their real strengths, which are:
A Solid Core Batting Lineup
Royal Challengers Bangalore has the best core batting lineup now and all the top 4 batsmen are in good form. They have the most experience opening pair in the World cricket batting masterclass, Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis, who is one of the best T20 opening batsmen around all the T20 leagues.
The 1st down slot is for Rajat Patidar, who was in great form last year and scored 333 runs in 7 inngins with an average of 55. He really kept the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the game whenever they felt like failing. When Kohli was struggling to score quick-fire runs, he was the one who scored some quick runs for the team to give Kohli some time to play his shorts.
Glenn Maxwell‘s performance will be the key aspect for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the lower order because he is the most explosive batsman for them. Last year it was an average performance by Maxwell for the RCB team, as he scored only 301 runs in 13 innings with an average of 27. He can also contribute with his spin bowling. He took 28 wickets in his 110 IPL appearances.
Great Pace Bowling Unit
They have a great pace bowling unit, and Mohammed Siraj is one of the reasons for that because he is now an ODI rank 1 bowler and 8 in T20. Hazlewood and Harshal Patel are the other experienced bowlers who have the habit of taking wickets.
They even brought Reece Topley into the squad to give more depth to the pace bowling unit and a few Indian domestic bowlers like Avinash Sigh, another pacey bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, just like Umran Malik. Wanindu Hasaranga is also one of the best spin bowlers in T20 who can take wickets in the middle order and can score some runs at the lower down if needed.
RCB IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore Weakness:
Royal Challengers Bangalore is the team whose weakness can’t be seen on paper because they look so strong on paper but when they start playing the match, they show many issues and weaknesses in the team.
No explosive first choice Opening Batsmen
Royal Challengers Bangalore doesn’t have any solid opening batsmen who can hit the ball from the 1st ball and that is one of the main reasons why Royal Challengers Banglore struggles to score big runs. Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli are one of the greatest batsmen of all time but they are not someone who can hit the ball out of the park from the 1st delivery. They need time to settle in and then start playing with their shorts. The New Zealand youngster Fin Allen is an option for the RCB side to open but he failed to score runs in India in the series between India vs New Zealand.
No solid backup or secondary spinner
They made a huge mistake when they let Yuzvendra Chahal go to Rajasthan Royal, who later became the purple cap holder in IPL 2022. They only have Wanindu Hasaranga as the lead spinner, who is doing all the work but they don’t have any solid 2nd spinner. They use Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed and Mahipal Lomror to bowl some overs for them, which can backfire them anytime.
How Deep Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) can go in the IPL 2023 Tournament Prediction:
Royal Challengers Bangalore are not the favorite to win the IPL 2023 cup as they have a few issues with the team and the huge blow came when they got the news that their newly signed player, Will Jacks, will not be available for the IPL 2023 season but still there is a slight chance they can maybe able to win the cup which will be a huge achievement for them, but on paper, they look weaker as a unit. Even though their women’s team looked like the favorite to win the first Women’s Premier League title, they became the first team to get eliminated in the WIPL.
