Ponting admonishes Yadav: “Don’t say sorry to me”
It’s a tough time to be a Delhi Capitals fan. The team has had a dismal start to the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League, losing five games in a row and still searching for their first victory. They’re running out of chances to turn things around and are in danger of being eliminated from the competition. The latest defeat, at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore, will have been particularly hard to take. Despite showing promise in their bowling efforts, their batting woes continued with a major collapse, and RCB emerged as clear winners. It’s not all over yet, but DC can’t afford to slip up again if they want to stay in the running for the title.
DC head coach Ricky Ponting is no stranger to setbacks on the pitch, and despite a crushing loss that must have left the team feeling demoralised, he remained focused on finding the silver lining. It was Kuldeep Yadav who caught Ponting’s attention, and he singled him out for praise, highlighting the player’s potential in this challenging season. In fact, Ponting had already apologised to Yadav after the team’s last game, which goes to show that he’s a coach who values honesty and directness. Ponting’s willingness to give credit where it’s due and focus on the positives is evidence of his commitment to building the kind of team that can overcome even the toughest challenges. With players like Yadav on board, DC has reason to be hopeful for what’s to come.
“Good, really good bowling performance. They challenged us early; they got off to a flier. Our attitude and commitment came back, we dragged it back. Kuldeep, where are you mate? Disappointed last game, weren’t you? You actually said sorry to me at the end of the game. So mate, don’t you ever say sorry to me or anyone for what happens on the cricket field. What I want you to do is bounce back strong and today with 2/23 off four, it was an outstanding spell of bowling. Well done,”
The recent match between DC and RCB was nothing short of thrilling, with some standout performances that left audiences on the edge of their seats. One player who particularly caught the eye was all-rounder Lalit Yadav, who not only bowled an incredible economical spell, but also managed to take the prized wicket of Virat Kohli himself. What makes Lalit’s performance all the more impressive is Kohli’s form going into the match – having already made a stunning 50 runs in just 34 balls, it seemed that nothing could stop him. Lalit’s skill and precision were truly remarkable, and his efforts did not go unnoticed. It is clear that both players and audiences alike have much to look forward to as Lalit’s career continues to flourish.
“Lalit, I thought you did a good job with the ball as well buddy. Two sixes in that one over otherwise the reason we bought you in today was to bowl those hard overs in the Powerplay, just outside it, and you did a great job as well. Axar you were also great. 1/25 off three and our golden boy Mitchell Marsh, who picks up 2/18 of his couple overs as well. So well done,”
