PBKS vs RCB Match Prediction: Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 27th Match of IPL 2023.

PBKS vs RCB Match Prediction: Punjab Kings will host Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, on April 20, 2023.

Punjab Kings will look to win their next match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who almost created a history of chasing the biggest total of the IPL in their previous match. It will be against the Shikhar Dhawan side vs Faf du Plessis RCB.

Punjab Kings won the last match by 2 wickets, which was a close encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants. The Punjab side bowling unit delivered in the match and stopped Lucknow Super Giants on 159 runs which was a low score at Bharat Ratna Shri Ata; Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

Sikandar Raza made his maiden IPL half Century in his previous match and also took 1 wicket in his two-over spell to become the player of the match. After Raza, Sam Curran, and Jitesh Sharma got out, most of the fans thought that Punjab Kings would be going to lose their match but then came Shahrukh Khan, who scored 23 runs in 10 balls to get his team over the line of victory.

Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the close encounter against the Chennai Super Kings in their previous match when King Kohli and MS Dhoni fought against each other in Dhoni’s last season of IPL. The match also leveled the record for the most sixes in a match which was 33 sexes.

Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell played an explosive inning and created a new record for the highest 3rd-wicket partnership ever in IPL history. Together they put in 126 runs in just 61 balls, and at one time, they looked just unstoppable. Still, in the end, Chennai Super Kings bowlers were able to defend the huge total, and Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their match by runs.

Pitch Report of Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali

Match Played11
Batting first won7
Batting second won4
Average First Innings Score166
Spinner Took183 Wickets
Pacer Took416 Wickets

Mohali pitch offers something for everyone as the average 1st innings score here is normal, and pacers enjoyed more bowling on this surface rather than spinners. The last match played on this pitch was between Punjab Kings vs Gujarat Titans.

In the last match, the pitch was slow, and the batter did not really enjoy it as the bounce of the ball was uneven. That made it very difficult for the batsmen to pick the line and length correctly because when they expect a high bounce, the ball does not bounce well, and when they expect a low bounce, it just rises up from nowhere.

Team Preview of Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings are in the 5th spot of the point table, winning 3 out of their 5 matches, but they have a negative net run rate which might play a big role in the closing phase of the group stage.

Punjab Kings once again struggled with the opener 2nd opener of them and now will look to give someone else a chance at the opening slot. In the last match, Shikhar Dhawan’s Absence showed their weakness in the opening slot as both of their openers got out on 17 runs.

“Amazing win. I thought our spinners bowled nicely. A bit of dew came in but the wicket was offering a little for the bowlers. The way Sikandar Raza played was brilliant. And the way Shahrukh finished it, that’s what he’s in our team to do. His role has been clear on our side. Players who can hit sixes from ball one are dangerous. You go from ground to ground – different dimensions – have to come up with different gameplans. We’ve got so many options which is lovely to have as a captain. I’ve never done it before. Hopefully, Shikhar will be fit soon,”

Curran said at the post-match presentation.

They gave a chance to talented young talent Atharva Taide, but he failed to capitalize on that and got out on duck (0). Prabhsimran Singh again failed to score runs, who is known for his explosive batting, which he showed in just one match only but for the next match, Shikhar Dhawan might replace him.

Matthew Short is getting a good start but is now able to convert the good start into long innings, which he is capable of doing and also showed in the Big Bash matches. In the last match, Sam Curran was appointed as the captain of the Punjab Kings.

It was his first time captaining the side, and he did really well winning the first match as the captain. Sam Curran’s performance has been decent, and even in his last match, he picked up 3 wickets in his four-over spell. Sikandar Raza played a fine inning, but in the end, it was all about Shahrukh Khan, who is not consistent with hitting some sixes over the line and made his team win the match, which was a valuable point for them.

Team Preview of Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their last match by 8 runs which was a bit of a disappointment for them because they started the season of the IPL quite well, but after that, they lost some matches which were under their control. It is just typical Royal Challengers Bangalore side who have every top player and coach but are still not able to perform to their potential.

The only thing Royal Challengers Bangalore is above everyone is their earning from the commercials, as they earn the most amount of money through their franchise and have the strongest content-making team.

At one time, RCB looked like they would win the match easily when Faf du Plessis and Maxwell were batting and set a record for the highest 3rd wicket partnership. They also hit 13 sixes in the partnership, which is just mind-blowing.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore team is still looking for their 1st down reliable player, as Mahipal Lomror failed twice in their previous matches and never looked in good touch. There will be changes in the batting lineup, and Karan Sharma might be in the playing XI against the Punjab side because the track of Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali is slow, and spinners get some assistance from the pitch.

There might be a chance that Faf du Plessis will not be going to feature in the next match because he had some minor injury on his rib cage in his previous match.

Wanindu Hasaranha will be the key to their success in the slow tracks as in the previous match. He only got 2 overs to bowl because Chennai Super Kings bowlers were hitting his bowling out of the ground again and again.

“Will tell the boys to take this in stride and move on. Personally, I got stiff and lost some power. I’d have liked to have gone harder in the middle period. I tried but couldn’t keep up.”
