Major League Cricket 2023: Matthew Wade’s 78 powers San- Francisco Unicorns to 21 runs victory over LA Knight Riders
In another clash of the Major League Cricket 2023 between San Francisco Unicorns and Los Angeles Knight Riders, left-handed batter Matthew Wade of the SFU shines with his destructive innings of 78 runs, due to which SFU managed to beat LA Knight Riders in the match by 21 runs. Matthew Wade came out to open the innings with Finn Allen, and the duo did their job as openers and had a partnership of 88 runs for the first wicket. Finn Allen scored 20 runs, and Wade went on to score 78 runs before getting caught at deep cover point. In his innings, he hit seven boundaries and five sixes.
Apart from Matthew Wade, Corey Anderson (39), and Marcus Stoinis (37), helped Aaron Finch’s SFU put a huge score of 212 runs on the scoreboard, chasing the target of 213 runs Sunil Narine’s Los Angeles Knight Riders fell 21 runs short of opening their win account in the Major League Cricket, and with this loss, the LA Knight Riders are now at the bottom of the table; they have yet to win their first game in the league, whereas SFU climbed up to third position in the table with two wins in their last three matches.
Though the start of the LA Knight Riders was decent, as opener Jason Roy was looking good, he scored 45 runs off 21 balls and was the highest scorer from his team in the match, but after getting out batters afterwards, they failed to capitalize on the momentum, and lost the match.. Matthew Wade was named Player of the Match for his scintillating knock.
I mishit a few. The breeze helped to carry it over the fence. Was good with the new ball. The ground isn’t big on one side. The slower balls at the back-end was a little tough to get away. We have tried to adapt to conditions. We are starting to get some momentum.
