LSG vs RCB Match Prediction: Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 43rd Match
LSG vs RCB Match Prediction: Lucknow Super Giants will Host Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on May 1st, 2023.
The two teams with the highest total score in IPL go against each other, and it will be an interesting match because both teams can get out under the 100 runs mark or can score more than 250 in 20 overs. They already played one match in IPL 2023 season in which Lucknow Super Giants won the game by 1 wicket.
Lucknow Super Giant won their last IPL match against Punjab Kings quite comfortably by 56 runs which is a huge margin, but the total they set on the Mohali ground was the second-highest total in IPL history. They scored 257 runs in the match and just stormed past the Punjab bowlers like a tornado.
From the first over, Kyle Mayers started hitting shots all over the park, and in a blink of an eye, he reached his fifty in 22 balls, but after he got out, Lucknow Super Giants had some other plan this time as they sent the young talented striker of the ball Ayush Badoni who just smashed down 43 runs in 24 balls. After that, Marcus Stoinis scored 72 runs in just 40 balls, and Nicholas Pooran scored 45 runs in just 19 balls.
Lucknow Super Giants used 8 bowlers in the last match if you exclude the one ball from Ayush Badoni. KL Rahul Is not very confident with his bowlers, so he keeps more than 6 options.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had a disappointing outing in their encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders, who were on a 4-match losing streak. They still won against RCB by 21 runs which now puts the Virat Kohli side in a tough spot because right now, they are in the 5th spot with 8 points.
The fielding was one of the reasons why Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the match because Mohammad Siraj and Harshal Patel dropped Nitish Rana’s catches twice, which somewhere coasted them a game. Virat Kohli also noted that thing and said in the post-match presentation.
We dropped a few chances which cost us 25-30 runs. We set up ourselves really well.
Virat Kohli said in post match presentation.
Shahbaz Ahmed was not useful at all with anything, as he gave 4 sixes in his over and got out on just 2 runs when given a chance to bat at 2. He should not be given another chance in the IPL because he already got few chances.
It will be an interesting match because last time, Gautam Gambhir showed his aggression to Virat Kohli, and Virat Kohli is someone who doesn’t keep things to himself, so he will be looking to give that aggressive winning celebration back to Gautam Gambhir.
LSG vs RCB: Head-to-head Record
Their last encounter was nail-biting as Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 1 wicket. It was Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoini’s explosive batting, which took the match close, and then the last wicket-keeping disaster by Dinesh Karthik, which made Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan take the winning run.
Royal Challengers Bangalore played two matches against each other in the previous season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won both matches against the Lucknow side. In the first match, RCB won by 18 runs, and in the next match, they won by 14 runs. It was the eliminator game in which Rajat Patidar scored a brilliant century, and Josh Hazlewood took three wickets, but this year both of the RCB players are out of the IPL due to injury.
LSG vs RCB: Pitch Report of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow
Stats in the table is from the last 4 IPL matches played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow
Match Played | 4 Matches |
Batting first won | 2 Macthes |
Batting second won | 2 Matches |
Average first Innings score | 152 runs per match |
Pacer Took | 30 Wickets |
Spinners Took | 24 Wickets |
The pitch of Ekana Stadium favors spinners more than pace bowlers, which was seen in the last match on this ground between Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans on April 22nd, 2023. In the last match, run-scoring was not easy, and all types of bowlers got something from the pitch that helped them keep the batsman on their toes and not hit them hard. Pace bowlers took 5 wickets in the last game, and spinners took six-wicket.
It is hard to pick the length of the bowler and to hit with perfect timing, which was seen in the game played before on this pitch when most of the players got out when they tried to hit the ball.

Team Preview of Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow team is right now at the 2nd spot of the Tata IPL 2023 with 10 points in hand, and the last match was the best for them in their IPL journey because they scored the 2nd highest total in the IPL history which is 257.
The next match is against the team who scored the highest total in IPL history Royal Challengers Bangalore, whom they beat in their last head-to-head match. Which was an amazing win by the team because most of the team contributed to that match.
The good and bad news for them in the match came from one single player, Marcus Stoinis, who scored 72 runs from just 40 balls and also took one wicket but then while bowling, he picked up an injury that made him go out the field.
The last game was a team match in which all the batters except the out-of-form KL Rahul contributed, and that too with a high strike rate. Naveen-ul-Haq came out really top-class bowler in his last 2 IPL games, where he bowled with good economy and also took 3 wickets in the last match against the Punjab Kings.
Marcus Stoinis did give an update about his finger injury and his performance in the Post Match presentation.
The finger is alright. It is better now. We will get scans done. We were joking about the difference between this wicket and the one at our home. Was just trying to build partnerships. Ayush got off to a flier as well. I do like to take responsibility of batting in the middle order and finishing it off. I have batted everywhere in my career. I was swinging a few in the nets. So, they got excited and gave me the new ball. No one loves to bowl on a flat one. The home wicket suits me more as my change of pace helps me there.
Stoinis said in the post match interview
KL Rahul needs to perform and back himself because the way he is playing right now is not up to his own standard, which he set in the previous years of IPL. However, he is the 2nd highest scorer of the team, as he scored 274 runs in 8 matches, but he should still be in the orange cap race, which he is not by far.
Nicholas Pooran once again gave an excellent performance for the team as he scored 45 runs in just 19 balls, hitting 7 fours and one six, but the good news was Ayush Badoni, who came at 1st down and scored 43 runs, that will be going to give him a huge boost.
Team Preview of Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore are in the fifth position, and to qualify for the playoffs, they need to keep winning because they are not consistence with the winning form.
The last time when Royal Challengers Bangalore faced Lucknow Super Giants, they lost by 1 wicket or more you can say they gave their win to them. The top-order trio scored really well in their last match against the LSG side, in which all three scored half-Centuries and posted a total of 212 which is a really good score to defend. At the start, they pushed the Lucknow team on their back when they were able to take 4 quick wickets, but then Marcus Stoinis and Pooran took away the match.
In the last match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, they were very sloppy with the fielding and gave away 2 points in the KKR point tally. The middle order is the biggest concern for the Royal Challengers Bangalore side because they are not scoring at all.
The 78% of the Royal Challengers Bangalore runs came from the top 3 order batsmen, including Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell. Kohli was really disappointed, which he even told in the post-match presentation.
To be honest we handed them the game. We did deserve to lose. We handed them a victory. We were certainly not up to standard. If you look at the game, we didn’t capitalize our chances. We ended up hitting the fielder to balls which weren’t wicket taking. It is what’s on the scoreboard and how to get them. Even while chasing, despite losing wickets we were one partnership away from being in the game. We needed one partnership to get us home.
We need to be switched on and not give away soft plays. We have won one and lost one on the road. It is not something that is making us nervous. We need to win some away games to be in good shape for the later stages of the tournament.
Virat Kohli Said in the Post Match Presentation
The other players need to perform for the team else this year. Also, they are not going to win the trophy, which is already looking hard for them.
