Ireland vs Scotland Match Prediction: Ireland will play against Scotland in the 7th match of ICC World Cup Qualifiers at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on June 21st, 2023.

Ireland had a bit shocking result in their last match against Oman as they lost the match by 5 wickets. Ireland’s batting and bowling unit was not up to the standard, which cost them a loss, but Oman did play quite well against them. Still, as an ICC-recognized team, Ireland should do better, and now they need to win all their remaining matches to think of going to the main event of the World Cup.

Andy Balbirnie was not very surprised by the result, as he said in his post-match interview. However, it is not good to hear from the Ireland fans because they are one of the teams who took many big teams.

“We felt like we had a pretty good score. 280 in a one-day game is pretty good. They were hard to bowl to at times. We felt right in the game. Oman’s win didn’t take us by surprise… it’s a long tournament. We need to get back into it pretty quickly,”

Andy Balbirnie said in the post match interview

The Ireland side had a tough start to the game as they were 4 down in just 107 runs, but then Harry Tector and George Dockrell had an amazing partnership, and in the later phase, Dockrell played some amazing innings to reach a total of 281 which is decent score against a team like Oman which they thought but the way they bowled was not quite right.

Scotland has been in World Cups before; in the past, they have been in three ODI World Cups (1999, 2007, and 2015). They also played in 5 T20 World Cup tournaments, the most recent in 2022. In the last 2015 ODI World Cup Qualifiers, they won the final match against Bangladesh by 34 runs to get their first win against the full member of the ICC and went into the main event of the World Cup that was held in Australia and New Zealand. However, they lost all 6 matches in that World Cup tournament.

Recently they played in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 against Namibia and Nepal, in which they lost 2 matches and won 3 of their last 5 matches. They have to give them all if they want to have a slight chance to be in the main event of the World Cup. Richie Berrington will lead the side, and they have some experienced players to help the team win the matches.

Ireland vs Scotland: Head-to-Head Record

Scotland won just 4 matches against the Ireland side, and in the last 3 ODI head-to-head matches, they lost all three against Ireland. The last match was in March 2018, in which Ireland won by 25 runs, but things changed now that Ireland became a weaker team.

Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo pitch was quite good for everyone in the match between Sri Lanka and UAE. The spinners had a great match as they picked 11 wickets, and the pacers took only 3, which clearly showed that in the 2nd innings, the ball started to grip to give some turn and which is why Wanindu Hasaranga was able to take 6 wickets.

Both teams have some special spinners who can turn around the game anytime they wish to, but it will be hard for the batters to bathe because they need to be patient with the batting approach and select their shots accordingly.
