IPL Code of Conduct: Why were Avesh Khan and Faf du Plessis penalized?
IPL Code of Conduct: Avesh Khan of Lucknow Super Giants got penalized for showing over-aggression by throwing his helmet on the ground after Lucknow Super Giant won the match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 1 wicket on April 10, 2023, in the Indian Premier League season 16th.
Royal challengers Bangalore posted a huge total of 212 runs in 20 overs by batting 1st and then took control of the match in the bowling. They sent Kyle Mayers and KL Rahul early to the dressing room, and in the 11.1 overs, Lucknow Super Giants was on 105/5. Everyone thought that it was game over for the Lucknow side, but then Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran built their innings and scored quick-fire fifties.
Nicholas Pooran scored 62 runs in just 19 balls, and Marcus Stoinis scored 65 runs in 30 balls, but both of them got out. After that, it was Ayush Badoni who was looking good but hit a wicket when he was able to hit the ball for six. The match went to the last ball when Lucknow Super Giants needed 1 run in 1 ball, and then because of Dinesh Karthik’s clumsiness, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi were able to take a single, and because of emotion, he threw his helmet on the ground. Gautam Gambhir was also seen as very aggressive.
The match referee said, “Lucknow Super Giants’ Avesh Khan has been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct. Mr. Avesh admitted to level 1 offense 2.2 of IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the statement added.
IPL Code of Conduct: Why did Faf du Plessis get 12 Lakhs fine?
The Royal Challengers Bangalore faced a fine in a match against Lucknow Super Giants. Faf du Plessis gets 12 Lakhs fine for the slow to over-rate because he was so slow with the decision-making as the match went so close, and Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 1 wicket at the end. IPL code of conduct law got him.
Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis made havoc in the Royal Challengers Bangalore team when they started to hit every ball out of the ground in the late phase of the match, which made Faf du Plessis think a lot and set field in every ball.
Royal Challengers Bangalore team also had to allow only four fielders outside the 30-yard circle in the final over because of the slow over rate. The rule was introduced in January 2022 when ICC instructed that if the bowling team takes too much time to finish the 20-over quota at the right time, The team is forced to not place five fielders outside the 30-yard circle in the ground. The team allowed only four fielders outside the circle if they were not able to finish the over on time.
ICC introduced this rule because when the match gets close, the bowling side takes a lot of time to the ball, which makes batsmen frustrated and lose their concentration many times. Many teams used to do that to break the concentration and frustrate the opposition.
