India vs Pakistan: India thrashed Pakistan by 4-0 in the SAFF Championship 2023 Opening match with the help of Chhetri’s hat-trick.
India vs Pakistan football match was a one-sided game as India won the match quite comfortably against the poor Pakistan defense, and the captain of Team India, Sunil Chhetri, scored a hat-trick in the game to give his team a huge win against the Pakistan side.
Pakistan gave away two penalties which were converted by Sunil Chhetri, and one he scored from inside the box. The 4th goal came from Udanta Singh as he received a long ball from the defense of the Indian team. It was the fourth time the Indians beat Pakistan in the same tournament.
Sunil Chhetri has 90 international goals in his tally, and now he is the second-highest-scoring Asian and fourth-highest overall goal scorer in international football. He was quite happy with the clean seat they got in the match and the way the Indian supports packed the stadium.
“I’m quite happy, more satisfied because we kept a clean sheet, that was the first target that the team had set,”
“I think these numbers will matter. At 2-0 that was the talk we had inside, we wanted to score more and I’m thankful we did it. Also, very happy to be back at the fortress, the atmosphere was amazing, Playing here we always feel confident.”
Sunil Chhetri said in his post match interview.
The match got heated in the 44th minute when the Indian coach Igor Stimac tried to stop Pakistani player Abdullah Iqbal from sending a throw-in to his player, but soon after that, Rahis Nabi rushed towards the coach and said some words, and soon every player on the pitch was involved in the fight, but later some of the senior players like Sunil Chhetri tried to stop the fight.
The Pakistan goalkeeper coach Marcelo Schroeder Costa headbutted the Indian team manager Velu Dhayalamani which was an ugly incident between the two sides, but soon everyone got calm down, and the Indian coach got a red card.
It was an amazing match for the Indian team, but Pakistan was not at all comfortable with the banter.
