Virat Kohli is now in this elite club, becomes fourth Indian to reach this milestone.
Star batter of Indian Cricket team Virat Kohli is going to be the fourth Indian and tenth overall cricketer to play 500 International matches. Since his debut in Indian cricket team in 2008 Virat Kohli has featured in all the formats of the cricket and has amassed numbers of records to his name, the right-handed batter played his 500th international match against West Indies which is the final test match in the series. Apart from Virat Kohli, India’s most successful captain MS Dhoni, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and current head coach of Indian cricket team Rahul Dravid are already part of this elite club. Rahul Dravid also praised him for his consistency and dedication towards the game and called him an inspiration for young batters.
Virat Kohli has so far amassed 25,461 runs in international cricket scoring 8,555 runs in Test, 12,898 runs ODI, 4,008 runs in T20I. Dravid revealed that there is a lot of hard work and sacrifices behind Virat’s success in cricket and that would set an example for the young cricketers he added that the right-handed batter is both mentally and physically fit and will continue to play cricket in upcoming years.
Terrific achievement to have played that many number of games. It is a reflection of lot of things – ability, fitness, adaptability, desire, hunger, passion about the game. It also speaks alot about longevity. If you slip up on any one of these areas you probably won’t have as long a career as Virat has and achieved some of the milestone that he has. To play all the three formats and adapt to them, maintain high standards in each of them. He has been thrown so many challenges, he has had to display different kinds of skills
