“He has been an unsung hero of the Indian team for many years” Harbhajan Singh praised this Indian cricketer
Former Indian team star off spinner Harbhajan Singh showered praise on this Indian batter for doing the dirty work of facing the bowlers at his spot of the batting order and contributing valuable runs for his team. Speaking to PTI, Harbhajan Singh mentioned Cheteshwar Pujara as one of those players who always stood for the team strong in the batting order and played proper test cricket to win matches for India, and he deserves much respect for that. The off spinner was unhappy with the selectors decision to drop Cheteshwar Pujara from the team as India is going to play the first of the three test matches against the West Indies on July 12.
The right-handed batter turned 35 this year, and from the past few test matches, he has not performed well for his team. In fact, in the WTC final, he failed to score significant runs for his side in the two innings, which ultimately led to India’s loss against Australia. As per Harbhajan Singh‘s opinion, other batters in the team aren’t scoring runs for the team either, but they got selected for the West Indies tour, and the veteran batter has been left out.
I have a lot of respect for Chesteshwar Pujara for what he has achieved. He has been an unsung hero of the Indian team for many years now. He has been one of those pillars of strength for India, doing the dirty work of hanging in there, making sure other batters got their comfort,
Harbhajan Singh told PTI
I believe he needs to be given a bit more respect than what he has been given and the way he was chucked out of the team was a surprise for me. Because he isn’t the only one not scoring runs. There are others as well who play in that same team who are scoring runs at same average,”
He added
Young Yashasvi is likely to bat at number 3 for the Indian team in his debut match against the West Indies; the playing XI is yet to be announced.
