Gujarat Titans climb up the IPL 2023 standings with dominant win over Mumbai Indians
Gujarat Titans put on an inspired performance to grab their second straight win in the Indian Premier League, comfortably beating Mumbai Indians by a margin of 55 runs. A scintillating knock from Shubman Gill at the top of the order set up what would eventually be a total of 207 for 6. The pair of Miller and Manohar then put on a blistering partnership of 71 off just 35 balls to add some extra flourishes to their impressive total.
Mumbai’s batting innings was all too familiar as they were never really able to get into their groove with no one reaching 25 except West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford who managed 32 before being dismissed by Noor Ahmad. To make matters worse, their death bowling came under fire again with an ill Jofra Archer missing out and Arjun Tendulkar not bowling in that phase. Gujarat’s Afghan spin duo proceeded to wreak havoc as Noor Ahmad took three wickets while Rashid Khan claimed two in his four overs, reducing Mumbai to 59 for 5 in the 11th over.
It was ultimately an easy victory for Gujarat as they registered their second consecutive win after starting the tournament at the bottom of the table. Despite having the same number of points (10) as table-toppers Chennai Super Kings, there are still questions surrounding whether or not they can keep up this momentum and make it further in IPL 2023.
