GT vs LSG Match Prediction: Gujarat Titans vs Lucknow Super Giants, 51st Match of IPL 2023

GT vs LSG: Which Pandya lead his side to victory?

GT vs LSG IPL Match Prediction: Gujarat Titans will play against the Lucknow Super Giants at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on May 7th, 2023. It can be a battle of Pandya’s brother in the next fixture as KL Rahul’s fitness is still under observation.

Gujarat Titans had a dominating win in their previous match by 9 wickets against the Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on May 5th, 2023.

Hardik Pandya led the side from the front, and it was an amazing performance by the two Afghani magician spinners who ran over Rajasthan Royal’s side. From the very first ball, Gujarat Titans bowlers started to grip the game in their hands, and it was Hardik Pandya who got Jos Buttler out on just 8 runs.

Sanju Samson played some cracking shots, but then the inform batsman of the Rajasthan Royals, Yashasvi Jaiswal, got himself run out, and after that, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad showed their magic with the ball as they restricted the Rajasthan to just 118. Hardik Pandya allowed Rashid Khan to mentor Noor Ahmad in the game because he didn’t want to interfere and believed that Rashid was the guy who could guide Noor well.

I let Rashid handle the business with Noor. Nobody better to communicate. Not much I have to do, I only suggest on when to have a slip. They are very confident about what they want to do, we only have conversations when things aren’t going right.

Hardik Pandya said in the post match presentation.

When Gujarat came to bat, they just chased it down very easily, and this time it was Hardik Pandya who quickly smashed 39 runs in 15 balls innings to take Gujarat to grab 2 points. Saha also played an important innings of 41 to help the team.

Lucknow Super Giants have an inconsistent IPL season, and their record on the home ground is getting worst. In the last match against the Chennai Super Kings, they were lucky enough to be saved by the rain god else. They would have been defeated easily by the Chennai Super Kings.

Once again, Kyle Mayers failed to score runs on the home ground, but the next match will be on the away ground and most probably on the batting-friendly surface. It will be a tough challenge for the Lucknow Super Giants team to win against the team they lost every time they played in IPL.

Krunal Pandya had a disappointing outing against the Chennai Super Kings as he got out on a golden duck. However, he performed well against the Gujarat Titans last time when they played at  Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on April 22nd, 2023.

Although the rain affected the match still, there was an amazing moment captured in the game when the legend Jonty Rodes helped the ground staff to pull the covers on the field.

GT vs LSG: Pitch Report of Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

Match Played15
Batting first won7
Batting second won8
Average 1st innings score181
Pace bowlers took120 wickets
Spiner bowlers took63 wickets

In the first match at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, a red soil wicket was chosen for the match as BCCI wanted the IPL opening match to be high scoring. There was a bit of grass on the pitch to give some swing movement for the pacers and also to hold the pitch together.

The ground is still heavily batting-friendly, but since four matches have already been played there, there may be some opportunity for spinners in the next game because it will become dryer as more games are played. Most of the batsmen on the Gujarat Titans’ side are technically proficient batters who can hit and utilize the spacious ground to take off singles and doubles, which benefits the Titan’s team.

The last match on this ground was played between Gujarat Titans vs Delhi Capitals, which was a surprisingly low-score thriller. An overcast condition helped Mohammad Shami get swing and take wickets, which he did.

The pace bowlers just rocked on the surface and made a low-scoring game thriller for all the Indian Premier League fans.

Team Preview of Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans are at the top of the table with 14 points and are likely to be the first team to qualify for the Playoffs, just like they did in the previous year. Their win against the Rajasthan Royals will give them more confidence to go into the last phase of the tournament.

Rashid Khan was happy with his and Noor’s performance, but he also said that there are more amazing spinners like us who did not get the chance to play in the IPL.

(On mentoring Noor Ahmed) It makes it easier, we speak Pashto in the middle. Noor is happy that I’m with him and he’s always someone who listens and puts it the hard work. (On how many wrist spinners exist in Afghanistan) To be honest, more than 1000 now. I have been to a few academies and there are so many leg spinners. There were 250 of them after my first year of IPL.

Now, I’ve been playing IPL for 6-7 years now, and there are so many in Afghanistan trying to copy me. I receive so many videos everyday of new leg spinners. I’m so happy to see Noor perform here, there are so many more like Qais Ahmed, Zahir Khan who haven’t got their opportunities in IPL but when they do they can perform really well.

Rashid Khan said after receive the player of the match award.

They are going to play at Narendra Modi Stadium, which is more batting-friendly, but now many games are played on the pitch, which will wear some of them down will help spinners more. Hardik Pandya corrected his mistake of the previous match when he could not hit shots in the last match against the Delhi Capitals but in the encounter against Rajasthan. He scored 39 runs in just 15 balls, which will give him confidence for the other matches.

The team management of Gujarat Titans is doing something amazing because all players are looking confident and performing well in most of the matches since last year. Credits go to Ashish Nehra and all the staff of the Gujarat Titans.

Gujarat Titans can use some new players as they are in a comfortable position right now, and the next match is against the Lucknow Super Giants, which will lead by Hardik Pandya’s brother Krunal Pandya. It will be going to be a fight between Pandya Brothers.

Hardik Pandya’s captaincy is one of the main reasons why Gujarat is doing so well because he gives so much confidence to his player, just like MS Dhoni. He even told get inspiration from Dhoni, which he said after the toss in the match between Gujarat vs Chennai. The way he smashed 3 sixes against Adam Zampa was phenomenal.

“I think almost everyone in the country has got motivation from him. Been a fan and admirer of him.

Hardik Pandya said to Ravi Shastri.

Lucknow Super Giants have great away form in the IPL 2023 but the worst home form. They still are the 2nd on the table with 11 points, and in their last match, they were saved by the rain else. They would have lost the game because they were being restricted to just 125 runs.

KL Rahul was out of the team in the last match because of his hip injury during the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Krunal Pandya was a stand-in captain for the side but could not contribute anything to the team in the previous match, but he has a good record against the Gujarat Titans.

Ayush Badoni was the only one who was able to score some runs for the Lucknow side, as he scored 59 runs in just 33 balls. He is a class player and one of the future stars of the Indian Cricket team.

Lucknow Super Giants have heavily relied on their foreign players, who are great when it comes to bat on the pacey surface, but when it comes down to slow tracker then, their average goes down drastically, which was seen in the last few matches when they played in their home ground condition which has a slow surface and favors spinners more than pace bowlers.
