Faf Du Plessis to Join Texas Super Kings:
Former Chennai Super Kings’ player Faf Du Plessis, after his stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2023 as a captain of the franchise, is all set to play for the Chennai Super Kings’ owned Texas Super Kings in the MLC, Major League Cricket season 1. He will be leading the team in the league like he led the RCB in the IPL 2023. The team management of TSK decided to give him the command of the team as the 38-year-old South African batsman played a vital role in the IPL 2023 for his team. Faf Du Plessis led the Johannesburg Super Kings (JSK) in the SA20 League in 2023 as well.
Faf Du Plessis would be seen playing along with Ambati Rayudu, who, after his retirement from Indian cricket, decided to return to the field as a player in the TSK. On the field, he will be joined by former CSK teammate Dwayne Bravo. Faf Du Plessis played for CSK for almost a decade from 2011–2021 and played 100 matches donning the yellow jersey, scoring 2935 runs. In IPL 2023, he was seen in action as a captain leading the RCB, and he had a spectacular season; he scored 730 runs and was the leading scorer of his team. Though the RCB couldn’t qualify for the playoffs, Faf proved that he still has cricket left in him, and the right-handed batter would be seen again donning the yellow jersey in MLC season 1.
Major League Cricket is the first franchise cricket league going to happen in the USA; this time only six teams are going to battle with each other, where some known and unknown faces will be seen. The first match of the league would be between the Texas Super Kings and Los Angeles Knight Riders on July 13, 2023, and the last match would be played on July 3, 2023.
