Chennai Super kings are the four-time Indian Premier League champion. CSK is known for its consistent performance and has qualified for the playoffs in every season it had participated in except last year when he finished in the second last spot of the table. The team is captained by the former Indian cricket team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and coached by Stephen Fleming. The home ground of CSK is the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, which is also known as the Chepauk Stadium.
CSK won the IPL title in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2015. They also won the Champions League Twenty20 in 2010 and 2014.
In 2015, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) along with the Rajasthan Royals, were banned from participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for two years due to their involvement in the 2013 IPL betting scandal.
The Supreme Court-appointed Justice RM Lodha Committee found that the owners of the CSK, India Cements, were involved in betting through their team principal, Gurunath Meiyappan. Meiyappan, who was the son-in-law of India Cements’ owner N Srinivasan, was found guilty of betting and passing on team information during the IPL.
The committee also found that the owners of the Rajasthan Royals, Jaipur IPL Cricket Private Ltd, were involved in illegal betting activities through their co-owner Raj Kundra. Kundra was found guilty of placing bets on his own team and passing on team information to bookies.
As a result, both teams were banned from participating in the IPL for two years, and their players were made available for the two new franchises that were added to the league in 2016. CSK and RR returned to the IPL in 2018.
This is going to be maybe the last year for MS Dhoni and the fans are crazy about him. The CSK CEO already announced MS Dhoni’s farewell Chennai Super Kings Home Match, which will be on May 14th, 2023, at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, which is also known as the Chepauk Stadium.
