DC vs KKR Match Prediction: Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders, 28th Match of IPL 2023

DC vs KKR Match Prediction: Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders, 28th Match of IPL 2023.

DC vs KKR Match Prediction: Delhi Capitals will host Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on April 20, 2023.

Delhi Capitals are going through the worst phase of their IPL history as they went straight five out of five losses and not looking to fight for the playoff this year. They lost their previous match against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs, and just like their previous matches, the batting lineup collapsed, and no one really posed a threat to RCB bowlers.

Delhi Capital coaches tried to cheer up players and talk about their performance in the match.

Manish Pandey was the only one who crossed the 25-run mark, which clearly shows how badly batters are doing. The star player Mitchell Marsh is not able to score double-digit runs, which is one of the reasons why they are falling apart.

David Warner was also disappointed about their performance while chasing, which he conveyed at the Post-match presentation.

“I said at the toss we needed to do all disciplines well, but we lost three early wickets and we didn’t chase down what should have been an easy chase. They (RCB) came out and started well with the ball, Siraj was outstanding,”

said Warner at the post-match presentation.

Kolkata Knight Riders are on a losing streak also after their amazing win, which seemed impossible for them, but after that, they failed to win any matches, and once again, Nitish Rana’s captaincy has been a big issue for them. They lost to Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets even though they scored 185 thanks to Venkatesh Iyer’s century.

The bowlers of the Kolkata Knight Riders just failed to defend a good total their batsmen put up. Except for Suyash Sharma, every bowler was expensive with their economy in bowling. Mumbai Indians batsmen easily tackled the bowlers of KKR, which was a big letdown for them because their bowling lineup was not as bad as it performed in their previous match.

Both teams will look for a win, and it will be going to be a good battle between the old capital of India vs the new Capital of India.

DC vs KKR: Head-to-Head Record

Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders played 31 matches against each other in that, 16 wins by Kolkata and 14 wins by Delhi Capitals. In the last three matches, Delhi Capitals won against the Kolkata Knight Rider side, which is a big positive for them. If they want to get their 1st win of the season, this is the best chance for them.

In the last match, Delhi Capitals won by 4 wickets against the Kolkata Knight Riders side, in which David Warner and Kuldeep Yadav played an important role in making their team win.

DC vs KKR: Pitch Report of Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

IPL 2021 and 2023 Stats at Arun Jaitley Stadium:

Match Played6
Batting first won1
Batting second won5
Average 1st innings score188
Pace bowlers took42 wickets
Spiner bowlers took16 Wickets

Arun Jaitley Stadium is a high-scoring venue with short boundaries, which will help the batsman to score runs at a higher strike rate. The Pitch is also not spinner or pace-bowler friendly as the swing is less, and the batting 2nd side will find it easy to chase down the total as it happened in the previous season. In the last match between the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, the pitch favored batting, but it also had something for bowlers.

Dew is one of the major factors why all team captains want to bat second in the match, as bowlers find it hard to grip the bowl, and for spinners, it is a tough job. There were few deliveries that were kept low in the match, which is always a suspicious thing about Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Team Preview of Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals is at the bottom of the point table in the Indian Premier League 2023 after the 5 matches in which they lost all five matches in a row. It is the worst start of the season for the Delhi Capitals, and in the last match, they had the best chance to win the match when Delhi Capitals bowlers stopped Royal Challengers Bangalore at 176 only at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is a low total on the ground because it has average 1st innings score more than 190.

Delhi Capitals bowlers did really well in the last match, but once again, batters failed to score any runs, which cleared showed when the tailender Anrich Nortje was the 2nd highest run scorer of the team. Prithvi Shaw got run out, and his bad luck and bad performance continued.

Mitchell Marsh was good with bowling, but his batting form is still disappointing as he only scored 4 runs in 3 matches he played which is the worst he can score. He was in fine form when he played against India in T20 international matches, but in IPL, his batting does not have that explosive power.

Delhi and their 2nd down batter struggles are still on as this time they again gave a chance to Yash Dhull, who once again looked like an ordinary player with no skill, and got out on Mohammad Siraj. Manish Pandey was the only one who batted well, but other than him, no one else really looked in fine form, and they all got out at a total of 151 in 20 overs.

The team management and coaching staff are just useless and not able to guide them properly. David Warner has not been seen encouraging his players or giving them confidence, and he himself not looking like a motivated sportsman. Delhi Fans are not happy with their team, and it will be hard for them if they lose their next match on the home ground.

Rilee Rossouw should be given a chance to play because he did well in the Pakistan Super League, which has kind of the same wickets as India, and they should also think of giving a chance to Philip Salt, who is one of the explosive batsmen.

Team Preview of Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders are once again on the low side after losing two in two of their previous matches after their mind-blowing winnings in which Rinku Singh hit five six of five balls. They are at the 7th spot of the points table with just 2 wins and 3 losses.

Nitish Rana was not happy with his bowlers giving away so many runs easily in most of their matches, which is also said in the post-match presentation after the Mumbai Indians match. He also had a heated argument with Hrithik shokeen.

“Definitely, I would like my bowling unit to deliver. One or two matches are fine… but it’s happening for five matches in a row now. Every bowler can have one or two bad days, but when it happens back-to-back, it’s a cause of worry. We need to have a talk about it when we sit back, and come back stronger.”

Nitish Rana said at the post match presentation after the match against Mumbai Indians.

The Kolkata Knight Riders opening pair flopped in their previous match but then comes Venkatesh Iyer’s innings, who single-handedly scored smashed down Mumbai Bowlers all over the park and scored a century in 49 balls. He became the 2nd Kolkata Knight Riders batsman who scored a century after Brendon Mallucum’s first IPL match century.

Andre Russell is having the worst season of the IPL till now, and the main reason for that is he is not 100% fit, but still, the management is making him play. They should give him some rest because the Kolkata side already has some good finishers now.

Former Kolkata Knight Riders player Yusuf Pathan was confused and also angry about Nitish Rana’s decision of picking the Playing XI as he said in the post-match analysis on the Jio Cinema that –

“I was surprised as to why did he select Ferguson in the playing XI. If you are not going to give him the new ball, then why is he playing? He is now bowling that well, so maybe change him for someone else because his pace bowling attack is coming across as very weak”,

Pathan said after the match

The pace bowling unit is not working at all for the Kolkata Knight Riders side, and right now, they only rely on the spinner and the spin-friendly tracks. It is very surprising that they are not giving a chance to a wicket-taker David Wiese in place of Lockie Ferguson.

David Wiese is a more reliable death bowler and also can use his batting ability which will give Kolkata Knight Riders extra batting depth. Liton Das most probably take the place of Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the wicketkeeper batsmen role. Jason Roy is also one of the options for Kolkata Knight Riders if they wanna add a batsman, but right now, they need a good pace bowler who will pick wickets for them or bowl economically.

Nitish Rana’s bowler’s rotation and field setting is not up to the mark, and he is not a cool captain who can calm down bowlers or teammates when there is a tough situation in the match. Maybe this is one of the reasons why Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers are being so expensive with their bowling economy rate.
