After winning the toss, MS Dhoni, captain of the CSK, decided to bat first at Chepauk, and the regular opening duo for the CSK started the innings: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway, who both looked in good touch and started dealing in boundaries. Sikandar Raza and Shahrukh Khan ended the game with Sikandar Raza hitting the winning runs for his team. PBKS required 9 runs in the final over, and Sikandar Raza hit 3 runs in the last ball to win the match.
