CSK organized a puja for the IPL trophy at Thirupati Temple after their 5th IPL title win.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), after defeating Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final, claimed their 5th IPL title, which is now equal to the Mumbai Indians, who also won it five times. CSK, after winning the trophy, organized a special pooja at Thiyagaraya Nagar Thirupati Temple, Chennai, just a day after they lifted the trophy. Chennai Super Kings won the TATA IPL 2023 final in the last ball of the final over when Ravindra Jadeja hit a four along the deep fine leg.
CSK was playing their 10th IPL final under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, though they managed to clinch the title only four times in their nine finals. This time the title numbers were going to increase. MS Dhoni, after winning the toss, chose to bowl first, and the decision didn’t prove that effective as Gujarat Titans set a target of 215 runs for Chennai Super Kings, which is the highest total ever made in the final of the IPL, plus the sloppy fielding and weak bowling attack of Chennai accompanied the Gujarat Titans in putting such a score on the board.
When CSK came to bat, a sudden downpour stopped the match for two hours, but it got started, and the target was brought down to 171 runs in 15 overs, but the batters of the Chennai Super Kings showed extreme valour and courage to chase the target whenever the required run rate exceeded it. Batters like Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, and Ambati Rayudu hit some great shots to bring it down. In the final over, when CSK required 13 runs to win, GT’s captain Hardik Pandya chose none other than Mohit Sharma, who had a splendid season with the ball and bowled the first four balls of the over brilliantly, but it was the last two balls that didn’t go according to his plan, and Ravindra Jadeja took advantage of that and scored the winning runs.
