The Assam Cricket Association Stadium, located in Barsapara, Guwahati, is a modern cricket stadium that is making waves in the cricketing world. With a seating capacity of 40,000, it is the largest sports stadium in Northeast India, and is the home ground of the Assam cricket team. The stadium, owned by the Assam Cricket Association, was inaugurated in 2017 by former Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal and has hosted both domestic and international cricket matches ever since. It is a state-of-the-art facility that showcases the latest in stadium technology and design, making it a must-visit for anyone who loves cricket or simply wants to experience modern sports facilities. The stadium’s first international cricket match was a T20I between India and Australia in 2017, which was won by the Aussies. Assam Cricket Association Stadium is now India’s 49th international cricket venue, and is a testament to India’s love for the sport.

The foundation stone of the stadium, laid by then Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in June 2004, marked the beginning of a journey towards a world-class cricket stadium in Assam. With an area of 59 bighas of land allotted to the Assam Cricket Association by the State Government, the construction began in 2006. It was no easy task for the ACA as the land had to be cleared from encroachers. However, after years of hard work, the ground was ready for domestic first-class matches, having initially been a dumping ground. ACA went on to host local matches here, but it was the East Zone Senior Women’s Inter-State One-day Championship match between Assam and Odisha on 4 November 2012 that became the first match to be played at the ground, a proud moment for cricket in the region.

The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, India has made history with its inaugural matches. On 10 October 2017, the stadium hosted its first T20I match between Australia and India. It was a close game, but Australia emerged victorious by 8 wickets, in front of a crowd of 38,132. The stadium continued to break records when it hosted its first ODI match between India and West Indies on 21 October 2018, with India winning the game by 8 wickets. However, the most significant event was when the ground hosted Women’s International Cricket for the first time in a WT20I series between England and India from 4 March 2019 until 9 March 2019. England women’s cricket team won the series 3-0, but the stadium proved that it can unequivocally support high-quality cricket games.
