“I’m just barely hitting my prime” Tony Ferguson doesn’t want to retire now.

Even after a five-fight losing streak to “El Cucuy”, Tony Ferguson is looking confident to comeback in prime form. Ferguson has lost his last five fights; the latest one was with Nate Diaz in September 2022, where he was submitted by him in the octagon, despite back-to-back losses Tony isn’t looking to back off now and wants to fight five more times in the coming years, then a title fight, to finally retire from the UFC. At UFC 291 he claims he will be starting his win journey with Bobby Green (29-14-1 MMA, 10-9-1 UFC), whom he is going to fight in the lightweight division at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City.

39-year-old fighter Tony Ferguson (25-8 MMA, 15-6 UFC) thinks that there are better days ahead in his fighting career, and at UFC media day, he spoke about his fight plans and what he is thinking about his career. Tony didn’t have a fruitful fight last time when he faced Nate Diaz, as he lost his 5th consecutive fight. On the other hand, Booby Green didn’t taste victory last time, as his last fight against Jared Gordon ended up as a no contest due to the accidental headbutt that led to the fight stoppage.

Tony Ferguson, showing his intent to fight more, said that:

“I feel at this point in time in my life, I‘m just barely hitting my prime,” Ferguson said. “One of my coaches, we were doing mitts between interviews. … I didn’t even wrap up. I went out and hit the pads, and I’m really sharp right now. I’m as sharp as I look.”

Ferguson said

When asked on his retirement he said:

“Nobody else is going to tell me (to retire). They can propose or say, ‘Oh, Tony. Whatever. He’s going to retire.’ No, motherf*ckers. F*ck you. I’m going to be done when I want to be done. But I’m also going to have to do what I have to do to get to where I want to get. Five fights and a title, baby.”
