India Pacer Injured Ahead of WTC Final in IPL 2023

A major concern for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid ahead of the WTC final as a key Indian pacer sustains a shoulder injury during IPL 2023.

The Indian cricket team has suffered a major setback as one of their star pacers sustained a shoulder injury during the ongoing IPL 2023. With the impending World Test Championship just around the corner, this news couldn’t have come at a worse time. The team is already facing the big final against Australia at The Oval without the services of key players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah. It’s a tough blow for India, but they have a strong team and will undoubtedly rally together to bring their best game to the final. All eyes will be on them as they fight to bring home the coveted championship trophy.

Jaydev Unadkat, one of the key players for the Lucknow Super Giants, incurred a shoulder injury during a practice session for the IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The news was revealed by IPL broadcasters who shared footage from LSG’s training session at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The video displayed Unadkat tripping on his bowling arm while practising at the nets, resulting in the injury. Although the team physio immediately aided Unadkat with an ice pack, LSG is yet to release an official statement regarding the extent of the injury. The incident has left fans on edge as Unadkat’s presence on the field is crucial for LSG’s success in the upcoming tournament. We wish Unadkat a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action soon.

India’s plan for the World Test Championship final might be jeopardized if Jaydev Unadkat gets ruled out. This concern is compounded by the injury concerns surrounding another fast bowler, Umesh Yadav, who missed Kolkata Knight Riders’ last game due to a niggle. Though India still has the likes of Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, the absence of key players could affect their game plan. However, India has a contingency plan with two pacers in their five-member stand-by list, Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Kumar. With the WTC title on the line, India will hope to avoid a repeat of their 2019 loss to New Zealand in the final at Lord’s by eight wickets. Meanwhile, Australia, who reached their maiden final in WTC in the 2021/2023 cycle, would be keen to prove their mettle in the tournament.
