Regional and Domestic Career:

Sanju Samson, in 2007, became a part of Kerala’s U-13 team, and in the Interstate U-13 tournament that year, he was rewarded as player of the tournament because of his exceptional batting performance. Sanju started his domestic career playing for Kerala in 2009–2010 in the Ranji Trophy; he was only 14 at that time and also became the youngest cricketer to be included in Kerala’s Ranji Trophy squad. Later in the year 2011–2012, he made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy against Vidharba and made his maiden first-class century against Himachal Pradesh in the 2012–13 Ranji Trophy.

Sanju Samson performed well in the domestic and IPL tournaments, due to which he was inducted into the Indian cricket team squad in 2014 for a six-match fixture against England, but he wasn’t inducted into the playing XI for all the matches. Later on, in 2015, he became part of the playing XI against Zimbabwe and had his T20I debut in that year, and in 2021, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka, and in both, he failed to leave an impact. He has yet to make his test cricket debut with the Indian team.

In March 2022, when the IPL season 15 started and Rajasthan Royals included Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad, the humour of the Rajasthan Royals Twitter admin crossed the comedic line and posted an edited image of Sanju Samson, which wasn’t liked by him, Sanju Samson tweeted that “It’s ok for friends to do all this, but teams should be professional.” Later on, team management asked for an apology from Sanju Samson and humorously ended the controversy by posting a fake audition video of a new admin.
