LSG vs GT Match Prediction: Lucknow Super Giants vs Gujarat Titans, 30th Match of IPL 2023

LSG vs GT Match Prediction: Lucknow Super Giants vs Gujarat Titans, 30th Match of IPL 2023.

LSG vs GT Match Prediction: Lucknow Super Giants will host Gujarat Titans at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on April 22, 2023, in the Indian Premier League match 30th.

Lucknow Super Giants won their last match by 10 runs in a low-scoring match against the table topper Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, which was the first home match for the Rajasthan Royals.

Both last year’s debut teams will go against each other once again in IPL 2023 after their successful campaign last year.

The bowling unit of Lucknow Super Giants performed really well, and the special spell was from Marcus Stonis, who took the first important wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal on 44 runs. The pitch was a bit tacky and slow, which made it hard for the batsmen to hit shots, and both team openers played their innings by just rotating the strikes.

KL Rahul also admitted that the ball was not coming on the ball on the pitch.

“At the 10-over mark, the message we sent out was that maybe 165 is a good total, so, let us try to get to 160. Did not have to set ourselves very high. They are a quality team, they have good bowlers. We fell 10 runs short maybe but we made it up with the ball in the end. There was no dew and that was fair on both teams,”

Rahul said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Marcus Stonis got the man of the match performance for his contribution with bat and ball. The bowlers of Lucknow Super Giants snatched the match from Rajasthan Royals hand, who were comfortable till their first wicket got out, and after that, anyone who tried to hit got caught because the ball was not coming on the bat nicely. The dimension of the ground also played a huge role, as many batsmen got out just inside the boundary line.

The defending champions of IPL, Gujarat Titans, did not have the start they wanted after playing 5 matches, but they are still one of the favorites to win the IPL title this year too. They lost their last match against the Rajasthan Royals by 3 wickets on their own home ground.

They will be looking to get into the winnings ways and will come strong as a team in the match against the Lucknow Super Giants. In the last match, Shimron Hetmyer just took the match away from them when it was under their control. Hardik Pandya made a surprising call when he not given bowling to Mohit Sharma, who bowled only 2 overs and gave away just 7 runs instead of him. Hardik went with Alzarri Joseph, who finished his spell by conceding 47 runs in just 3 overs.

Not giving the last over to Mohit Sharma was the wrong choice from Hardik Pandya, as it cost them to lose the match by 3 wickets.

Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans played 2 matches against each other in the IPL 2022, in which Gujarat won both matches easily. Gujarat Titans won the last match against Lucknow Super Giants by 62 runs when they got out the Lucknow team on just 82 runs.

Rashid Khan and Shubhman Gill gave the best performance in that match, making it very easy for the Gujarat Titans to win by a huge margin.

The pitch of Ekana Stadium favors spinners more than pace bowlers, which was seen in the last match on this ground between Lucknow Super Giants and SunRisers Hyderabad on April 7th, 2023. Spinners took 8 wickets in that match, and pacers took four wickets which shows that the pitch of Ekana stadium mostly favors spinners more.

In the last match, run-scoring was not easy, and all types of bowlers got something from the pitch that helped them keep the batsman on their toes and not hit them hard. 16 wickets went down in the previous match, and out of 16 wickets, spinners collected 6 wickets and 10 by pace bowlers.

Team Preview of Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants are now at the 2nd spot after winnings their last match against the table topper Rajasthan Royals. Lucknow team won 4 matches and lost 2 and will be looking to win the next match to go top of the table against the Gujarat Titans.

The team comes along as a unit, and it does not just depend on a particular player, which is the best thing for a team. In every match, few players contribute, which makes the unit perform well and give a positive result which they are already getting.

Lucknow Super Giants is slowly getting into grooves, and Rahul also started to score runs, but the main batsman for them has been Kayle Mayers, who once again scored his third fifty of the IPL 2023 and right now the leading run-scorer of the Lucknow Super Giants team with 219 runs in 6 matches with an average of 36.50 and a strike rate of 154.

Avesh Khan bowled beautifully in the last match when he picked three wickets by giving just 25 runs which was an amazing spell and also a match-defining spell. The Afghani left-arm pace bowler Naveen-ul-Haq bowled really economically by giving 19 runs in his four-over spell.

The team not really fielded well in the last match, as they dropped a few catches in the match, which would be a reason for their loss, but still, they were able to win the match, but then now they need to improve their fielding.

The team is still struggling with the middle order as, once again, Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni failed to score runs, and now it is time for them to change their middle order. They should give a chance to Manan Vohra or Prerak Mankad, who are waiting for their chance in the team.

They can also use the Impact player rule to give Quinton de Kock a chance at the opening and let Kyle Mayers bat on 1st down. Their leading wicket-taker bowler Mark Wood was out in the last match because of some minor injury issue.

KL Rahul not had a good last two matches against the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 and made only 8 runs in two matches. Deepak Hooda had great matches as he scored 82 runs in 2 matches.

Team Preview of Gujarat Titans

The Defending Champion is in the 4th spot of the points table with 3 wins and 2 losses, and their two losses came at their home ground which is disappointing for them because they lost both matches which were under their control, but in the end, they loosened up and that what coasted them. The captaincy by Hardik Pandya was not right in the previous match.

“To be honest no (didn’t expect the loss after the powerplay), but that’s the beauty about this game. The game is never over till it’s over, another lesson for us. (Noor Ahmad) He’s someone who’s difficult to pick, got us the big breakthrough but the other bowlers didn’t execute. Body is good, everything is good. It’s a very long tournament.

A lot of matches left, we still need to play a lot of group cricket even if we had won today. (On Gujarat’s score) I felt short. After I got out, they bowled a couple of good overs, but we should have gone a little harder and got to 200. We did cover it well but when I was watching from outside, I did feel that we were 10 runs maybe short”

said Pandya in post match conference.

Gujarat Titan’s bowling rotation was confusing in the last match, and it became one of the reasons why Rajasthan Royals just snatched the match from their hand. Hardik Pandya needs to rely on the ongoing player performance rather than all the time go for the stats and analysis because in the last match, when Mohit Sharma bowled really well, he not given him the last over was a clear indication that because Hetmyer was good against pace, Hardik decided to give to Noor Ahmad which turn out to be the wrong decision for his team.

The team is working well as a unit, but at the end of the match, when they have the grip of the match, many players take it easy, which costs them two matches. Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill had great matches against the Lucknow side in their last two matches and will be key players for them in their next match against the Lucknow Super Giants.
