The new Impact Player rule gives some old guns the last chance to play their last IPL because many bowlers who are old and not good with batting will be used as Impact players in this IPL. Many teams brought experienced players who can be used as Impact players and gave them a chance in their last IPL season.
In 2023, two new major cricketing T20 leagues were introduced, ILT T20 (International League and SA T20 South African T20. There are also some players who have gotten old and might play their last IPL because, in the modern era, the player needs to be fit as the standard of fielding went high.
MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings)
The captain who won it all and has been the most successful captain in the world will most probably play his last season of IPL as the Chennai Super Kings franchise officials already gave a statement about MS Dhoni’s farewell match against the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 14th. He won four IPL titles with Chennai Super Kings which is 2nd most by any team.
Dhoni is now 41 years old and seems to be officially stepping down from cricket and enjoying time with his family and farm. To date, he played 238 IPL matches and scored 5036 runs with an average of 39.34. He took 138 catches and 39 stumps till now, which is an amazing feat by Wicket Keeper batsmen. He is also the only player who scored more than 5000 runs while not playing a single match as an opener.
He also became the only captain who led the team in 200 matches as a captain who might be an unbroken record for any player in the future. He is also the only player who scored more than 500+ runs in the 20th over in the IPL. It is going to be very tough for Chennai Super Kings to choose their next captain as last year they failed as a team when they gave the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja.

Piyush Chawla (Mumbai Indians)
The Indian veteran leg spinner once again gives a chance in the IPL 2023 for Mumbai Indians. During the IPL Auction of 2023, Mumbai Indians picked Piyush Chawla, which surprised most of the other teams because he was unsold in the last IPL auction and not featured in domestic matches.
Mumbai Indians wanted a player who could give guidance to young spinners in their squad, and also, when they needed a spinner, he could show his skill on the ground, which he did in his last match against the Delhi Capitals side, where he took three wickets. He played 161 IPL matches and took 161 wickets which is a decent performance. He is now 35 years old, and this year might be his last year in the IPL because he is not looking that fit.
Amit Mishra (Lucknow Super Giants)
The legendary spinner Amit Mishra has an amazing record of doing three Hat tricks in the IPL. Lucknow Super Giants picked the 41-year-old leg spinner in the IPL Auction 2023 at his base price of 50 Lakhs.
Amit Mishra played in two matches of IPL 2023 in which he took three wickets by bowling six overs, but this will be his last IPL, most probably because, just like Piyush Chawla, he is also not very fast on his feet and can be sloppy with fielding. He played 149 IPL matches to date and took 169 wickets which is a decent performance by the leg spinner.

David Warner (Delhi Capitals)
The Australian opener David Warner has been playing in IPL for a long time and has been one of the highest scorers in IPL history and is still going strong in IPL 2023. He played 166 IPL matches to date and scored 6090 runs with an amazing 42 average.
David Warner played is one of the complete opening batsmen, but recently, he has been struggling with fitness issues and his strike rate. He is 37 years old now, and day by day, it is getting tough for him to play cricket at the highest level.
Dinesh Karthik (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
The 38 years old Dinesh Karthik might play his last season of IPL in 2023, as he seems to be out of form now. He made a sensational comeback in 2022, when he scored 330 runs at 5th down, and because of that amazing performance, He played in T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Royal Challengers Bangalore retained him in the 2023 IPL Auction for 5.50, which is an amazing amount for the 38-year-old cricketer. His mistake of not collecting the ball well in his last match against the Lucknow Super Giants showed that he might be finished as a cricketer now.
