CSK vs RR IPL Prediction: Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals, 17th Match of IPL 2023

CSK vs RR IPL Prediction: Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals, 17th Match of IPL

CSK vs RR IPL Prediction: Chennai Super Kings will host Rajasthan Royals at their home ground (Cheapuk Stadium) on April 12th, 2023. It will be a thrilling match to watch.

Chennai Super Kings won their last match against the Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets making their team win two in three matches. CSK was in total control in a match against Mumbai Indians, which gave them a win at Wankhede Stadium after 5 years. Ajinkya Rahane was a surprise package for the Mumbai Indians side, as they never thought that Rahane would play this style of cricket.

Though the team was without their two-star players, Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes, because of injury, Moeen Alli will be available for the next match. In the last match, MS Dhoni’s warning worked as Chennai Super Kings bowlers not bowled any No-Balls and gave away only five wides.

The Bad news for CSK is that Deepak Chahar, who missed the last year’s IPL and came after a long injury recovery, had an issue with his hamstring during the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings match as he was substituted in the first over and is likely to miss the whole IPL once again.

Ben Stokes will surely miss 1-2 weeks as he is having issues with his left leg knee. Even if he plays, he will not be going to bowl anymore, which he did a few times in his recent matches, as he is more focused on Ashes and Test Cricket. For Chennai Super Kings, it will be trouble as the three players are not fully fit, and other bowlers are not doing the job for MS Dhoni. It will be a tough match for Chennai Super Kings bowlers as they will face one of the best batting sides in the IPL.

Rajasthan Royals are in good form, and it is very clear that they have one of the best batting lineups in the IPL. The opening pair is doing their job very well and giving them the best start they can get. Yashasvi Jaiswal was amazing against the Delhi Capitals side, as he scored 60 runs in just 31 balls, and Jos Buttler scored 79 runs in just 51 balls. Hetmyer also hit some strokes, but their only concern in the batting lineup is the number 4th spot batsman in all three matches. Devdutt Padikal failed to score big runs, and when Riyan Parag was given a chance to bat up the order, he also failed.

Rajasthan Bowling relies on Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult, but Boult is not consistent. If there is a swing, he might get the wickets or leak many runs. They are still searching for a good death bowler who can be reliable in tough situations.

The most iconic picture from the last match was when MS Dhoni had a chat with the god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar.

CSK vs RR: Head-to-Head Record

Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals faced each other 26 times in IPL. Chennai has the upper hand as they won 15 times, and Rajasthan won 11 times, but Rajasthan won four out of their last five encounters against the Chennai Super Kings side, which might give them the confidence to win the next match against them.

The last time they played against each other was in IPL 2022. Rajasthan Royals won by Five wickets in which Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 59 and Ravichandran Ashwin’s 40 runs made way for the Rajasthan Royals side to win in the 19th over. Moeen Ali gave everything he could as he scored 93 runs and also took one wicket.

CSK VS RR: Pitch Report of MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepuak Stadium)

Table of IPL 2021 and 2023 Stats at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepuak Stadium):

Matches Played 5
Batting first won 1
Batting Second won 3
Super Over Match1
Average first innings score146 runs
Pace bowlers took25 wickets
Spin bowlers Took27 Wickets

The pitch of MA Chidambaram Stadium ( Chepauk Stadium) is good for spin bowlers and has always helped spinners in the past, but recently, the pitch has shown a neutral nature for bowlers and batsmen. The last match on this ground was a high-scoring match between Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants in which both teams passed the 200 mark, but still, the pitch favored spinners too.

CSK vs RR: Team Preview of Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings will be high on confidence after beating their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians at their own home ground comfortably. Ravindra Jadeja is back in form with his bowling, and this time Tushar Deshpande also took two wickets, but still, he is a bit expensive.

Ajinkya Rahane showed everyone that only having pure timing with the ball can make you an explosive batsman as he scored 61 runs in just 27 balls and was looking exceptionally well from the first balls. He was out of the Test Team this year after many failed innings in the past 1-2 years, but now after playing a beautiful inning, he seems to fix his number 3 spot in the Chennai Super Kings Lineup.

In the first game, Chennai Super Kings displayed their batting ability. However, they lack bowling, and given the surface would favor spinners more, we should expect some adjustments to the bowling unit.

Devon Conway once again failed to score any run as he got out on a duck, but he does have potential. On the other hand, his partner Ruturaj Gaikwad is looking in amazing form as, again, in his third match, he scored 40 runs, taking him to the 2nd spot in the Orange Cap race. He scored 189 runs in three matches with an average of 94. Only the legendary cricketer Shikhar Dhawan is above him.

CSK vs RR: Team Preview of Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals are slowly getting in their grove as they won 3 out of two matches and are in the 2nd spot. Jos Buttler started to score more run match by match, and in three matches, he scored around 152 runs with an average of 52.

Yuzvendra Chahal again showed his last year’s form in which he won the purple cap, and this year, he already took 8 wickets in three matches. He is a genius, and MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepuak Stadium) pitch will favor his style of bowling. The battle of him against Ruturaj will be interesting to see, as Ruturaj has been amazing against spinners, but Chahal can create chaos for them. Boult needs to be more consistent with his performance if Rajasthan Royals want to stop Gaikwad and Devon Conway.

Sanju Samson has to play big innings as he was out on a duck in his last match, and that is one major issue with him that you can’t just rely on him to be the hero in the match because someday he will score fantastic innings and someday he plays like a school kid.
