DC vs MI IPL Prediction: Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians, 16th Match of IPL
DC vs MI IPL Prediction: Delhi Capitals will host Mumbai Indians in the 16th match of IPL 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on April 11. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are the only teams now who not got any points from their previous matches.
Delhi Capitals started off their season in the worst way they could. They lost all three matches and not looking in sync as a team which made them lose every match till now. In the first match, they lost to Lucknow Super Giants by 50 runs, and in the 2nd match, Gujarat Titans easily defeated them by 6 wickets. In their previous match, they lost to Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs. Delhi Capitals looks in deep trouble, and their batting lineup is not working out at all.
David Warner is able to score that, too, with a very low strike rate which is around 108-116. Their bowling unit performs decently but not as one unit, which is another concern for them. The shoulders of players seem to be down, and they are in low confidence, which needs to change if they want any chance to qualify for the playoffs.
Mumbai Indians again started their 2023 IPL campaign with two consecutive losses and carried last year’s bad form with them, but both matches were against the strongest side of IPL, and the next match against Delhi Capitals will give them the confidence to win it as Delhi are in more trouble than them. Mumbai Indians have one of the best squads in the IPL but failed to capitalize on their ability. In the last match, Jofra Archer was out of the lineup because of an injury issue, and Cameron Green failed to score a run again.
The bowling lineup is not experienced as most of their bowlers never played any international matches, and even someone of them has never been a regular part of their past IPL team. They need positivity for the next match and can’t get a better chance than taking on the Delhi Capitals in their third match.
DC vs MI: Head to Head
Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians played 32 matches against each other in the IPL, of which Delhi Capitals won 15 and 17 won by Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians won the last match against the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022, but surprisingly Delhi Capitals won the last 3 out of 4 matches in IPL.
DC vs MI: Pitch Reports and Venue Stats of Arun Jaitley Stadium
IPL 2021 and 2023 Stats at Arun Jaitley Stadium:
Match Played | 5 |
Batting first won | 1 |
Batting second won | 4 |
Average 1st innings score | 189 |
Pace bowlers took | 34 wickets |
Spiner bowlers took | 12 Wickets |
Arun Jaitley Stadium is a high-scoring venue with short boundaries, which will help the batsman to score runs at a higher strike rate. The Pitch is also not spinner or pace-bowler friendly as the swing is less, and the batting 2nd side will find it easy to chase down the total as it happened in the previous season. In the last match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, batsmen were in favor of the ground and pace bowlers. Spinners did not have any assistance from the pitch, but still, Rashid Khan was able to pitch three wickets.
Dew is one of the major factors why all team captains want to bat second in the match, as bowlers find it hard to grip the bowl, and for spinners, it is a tough job.
DC vs MI: Team Preview of Delhi Capitals (DC)
Delhi Capitals will once again play in front of their home crowd, and this time, it will be hard for them to make them disappointed as they did in their last three IPL matches. Mitchell Marsh gave another bad news to the Delhi Capital side as he went back to marry and will come at the end of the season, which leaves Delhi Capitals in a tough spot to find good batsmen who can score runs with a high strike rate.
Mitchell Marsh did not have a great two matches of IPL as he failed to score a run and got out on Mohammad Shami’s bowl, he got played down, and this is the second time his stumps went flying. He was so good in the T20 series against India, but he looks like he is not giving his 100% with the bat as he did when he played from the Australia side.
Delhi Capitals tried to fill the Marsh spot with Manish Pandey, who got out on duck against Trent Boult, who also took the wicket of Prithvi Shaw on duck. When Prithvi Shaw was not included after his amazing performance in the domestic circuit in the T20 team for Team India, he posted a story written “Sai Baba Sab Dekh Rha hai” and now when he got the chance, he failed to score any run. Which made many people troll him that “Accha hai Sai Baba Kuch Nhi Dekh Rhe.”
DC vs MI: Team Preview of Mumbai Indians
The most successful Indian Premier League team, Mumbai Indians, is struggling to win the match and play as a unit because their batting lineup has collapsed, and their bowling unit is inexperienced. In the last match, when Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma gave a bit of hope to everyone after making 38 runs opening stand, it gave Mumbai fans confidence.
Mumbai Indians have a strong team, but they are lacking in the bowling unit as most of their bowlers are domestic, and they need to include Riley Meredith in the playing XI against the Delhi Capitals side, but it will be hard to decide which four foreign player they should pick. Tim David showed some class in their last match when he scored 31 runs in 22 balls.
Cameron Green, the 2nd most expensive buy, did not have a great start to the season as in the first match, he got out on 4 runs, and in his previous match, he got out on just 12 runs. Every Mumbai Indians fan was excited to see Green, but he failed to show his ability to hit the big sixes.
Surya Kumar Yadav’s form is a big concern for them. He again failed to score a run as Santer got his wicket on just 1 run MS Dhoni took a sharp catch down the leg side. After getting three ducks in the T20 series against the Australian side, he is now not playing freely. He scored just 15 runs in 16 balls which is very unusual for him.
Rohit Sharma showed some glimpses of him being the Hitman Sharma, but still, he was able to score just 21 runs in 13 balls. Jofra Archer is likely to play in the match against the Delhi Capitals side, as he was out of the playing XI in a match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
