Who are the Top Five Run Scorers in IPL?: Indian Premier League is the biggest Cricketing League in the world and players from all around the world come to participate in the league. There are 10 teams in IPL and they play 70 league-stage matches in total.
Everyone who watches the Indian Premier League has their favorite player in the league and wishes to see him scoring runs or taking wickets. We are in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League and here are the Top Five Run Scorers in IPL history till season 15th.
1-Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli, the run Machine Kohli, one of the greatest batsmen cricket produced in history, the game changer, the chase master and many more names given to him. He is the former Royal Challenger Bangalore Captain and the highest run scorer in the IPL till the 15th season.
He scored 6624 runs in 223 matches and 215 innings. He has an average of 36.19 and a strike rate of 129. He also scored 5 centuries and 44 half-centuries. He is King Kohli in all aspects and all he did because of his skill and hard work. In the 2016 season, he scored 973 runs in a single season which is still a record as he scored four centuries in that season.
2-Shikhar Dhawan
One of the best opening batsmen in the Indian Cricket Team and in the Indian Premier League. He is called Gabbar because of his amazing attitude and run-scoring skill. He has played for five IPL teams since his debut In IPL, which was in 2008 and in 2023, he will lead the Punjab Kings side as a captain.
He played for Delhi Capitals (2008, 2019-21), Mumbai Indians (2009-10), Deccan Chargers (2011-12), SunRisers Hyderabad (2013-18), and Punjab Kings (2023-present). He scored 6244 runs in 206 matches with an average of 35. He scored two centuries and 47 half-centuries, making him the second-highest run scorer in IPL history.
3-David Warner
The Australian opener and one of the most consistent batsmen, David Warner, is in the 3rd spot of the highest run scorer in IPL history. He scored 5881 in 162 matches with an average of 42, that the best average for any batsman in IPL who played more than 100 matches.
He will lead the Delhi Capital team this year after Rishabh Pant is out of season due to a car accident. He led Sunriser Hyderabad to win the IPL Trophy in 2016, but the SRH team sacked him last year.
4- Rohit Sharma
The Indian cricket ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma is the most successful IPL captain who led his team to win the IPL titles five times. He is also the fourth-highest run scorer in IPL history, as he scored 5879 runs in 227 matches with an average of 30. He played the most matches in IPL compared to the other 4 highest Run scorers.
5- Suresh Raina
Mr.IPL Suresh Raina is in the fifth of the IPL Top Five run scorers and he was 4th in 2021, but then he was given very few matches and now he is retired as Chennai Super Kings or any other team not picked him in IPL. He scored 5528 runs in 205 matches with an average of 32. He scored one century and 39 half-centuries in his IPL career.
