KKR IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders Strengths, Weakness, Schedule and Full Squad of IPL 2023
KKR IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the 3rd most successful team of the Indian Premier League (IPL), will look to hold the trophy for the 3rd time as they did two times in the past. They won the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014 under Gautam Gambhir.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are one of the teams that have played every season of IPL since 2008. Shreyas Iyer is their current captain but someone else might become the captain for KKR in 2023, as he recently picked an injury in the recent 4th test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) brought eight players to IPL Auction 2023.
- The Bangladesh cricket team superstar Shakib Al Hasan for 1.50 Crore.
- A former South African and current Namibia All-Rounder, David Wiese picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders for 1.00 Crore.
- Indian domestic All-Rounder Vaibhav Arora, who played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before in 2021, was later picked by Punjab kings in 2022 and in the 2023 auction again brought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 60 Lakhs.
- Mandeep Singh is one of the Indian cricketers who have been playing IPL since 2010 but has not gotten a chance to be part of the Indian International Cricket Team. They brought him for 50 Lakhs in the 2023 IPL Auction.
- Kolkata Knight Riders traded Shardul Thakur with the uncapped All-Rounder Aman Khan
- They also traded Rahmanullah Gurbaz with Lockie Ferguson.
- Kulwant Khejroliya, the domestic medium-pace bowler, was brought in for 20 Lakh in the 2023 IPL Auction.
- The InFoam Bangladesh WK/BAT Linton Das was one of the steal deals for Kolkata Knight Riders for just 50 Lakh.
- Kolkata Knight Riders also brought N Jagadeesan for 90 Lakh.
KKR IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders Strength :
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is a well-balanced team and one of the favorites to win this year’s IPL. Their main strength comes from the All-Round unit and this year, they brought two experienced All-Rounders, Shakib Al Hasan and David Wiese. Shakib Al Hasan will be one of the most important players in this year’s IPL as Shreya Iyer is already out for at least half a season of IPL, so he can be one of the captain choices for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
West-Indies Legendary Duo
Andre Russell and Sunil Narine have been one of the biggest strengths for the franchise over some seasons. Andre Russell is one of the most powerful hitting batters in the league and made his team win many matches and on the other hand, Sunil Narine is phenomenal with his mystery spin and top-order batting as a floater for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Shardul Thakur and Venkatesh Iyer are also their in the squad to give them more depth in the batting and bowling unit.

KKR IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders Weakness:
After Gautam Gambhir retired, Kolkata Knight Riders are still finding consistent opening pair for the team. It was one of the reasons why Kolkata struggled last year and finished in the 7th position in IPL 2022. That is the reason why they brought Liton Das and traded Rahmanullah Gurbaz because they want to have a settled top-order player.
Captaincy’s choice now is another weakness for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team as Shreyas Iyer is out from half of the IPL season, which is a huge loss for the team. He was brought in for 12.25 Crore in IPL 2022 Auction but failed to deliver what he did for the Delhi Capitals.
Sunil Narine and Andre Russell’s injury concern
Both the West Indies duo is getting old and has been playing in lots of T20 league, which has become one of the biggest concern over their fitness. They are 34 years old now and it will be hard for them to play in every match in IPL as the schedule is jam-packed.
Pat Cummins Absence
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) got bad news from their bowling All-Rounder Pat Cummins who will not participate in IPL 2023 because of the busy International Schedule as he wanna be fit in the 50-Over Worldcup for the Australian side. He was not good with the ball last season as he picked up only 7 wickets in 5 matches but he scored the joint fastest half-century of IPL alongside KL Rahul in 14 balls.
